URGENT: Remote Host DB Returns Login Failure on All Databases

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi, I have a mixture of sites hosted in various places powered by multiple databases located at the same place. Today the sites that had been finished a while ago and operating just fine on autopilot with no recent work done started returning login errors, but I also believe I saw an error related to the connection refusing remote connections the first time I saw it. I opened a ticket with my host and it has been listed as "In Progress" for the past three hours now with no improvement.I am hoping someone here might have a better idea how to handle this than they do.I tried adding new users and changing my main login password on their Paralles H-Sphere control panel, but every time I click submit I get an unkown error that the change could not be done. Every dynamic page on all of my sites whose databases are hosted there look like this: Server Error in '/' Application. Login failed for user 'MyUserName'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'MyUserName'. Source Error: An unhandled exception was gener

Customize failure text for login control

Hi all,

I would like to show the failure text in a client-side alert box for login control in c#. Please help me if there is an easy way to convert it from vb.net to c#.net. Thanks a lot!

Protected Sub Login1_LoginError(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Login1.LoginError
'Display the failure message in a client-side alert box
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "LoginError", _
String.Format("alert('{0}');", Login1.FailureText.Replace("'", "\'")), True)

 End Sub

 Converted, but it doesn't work.

protected void Login1_LoginError(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
    //Display the failure message in a client-side alert box
    ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "LoginError", string.Format("alert('{0}');", Login1.FailureText.Replace("'", "\\'")), true);

An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

I get this message when I try to launch a report (.rdl) from Windows Sharepoint 2007.  I have followed the steps to integrate SQL 2005 SP2 with Sharepoint 2007.  I can launch the report by navigating to "http://server:880/reportserver/.."  I am using a shared datasource that I created within sharepoint.  Any help would be appreciated.

WCF issues sending large data - "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

Hi Guys I have posted the following on www.asp.net but thought it might be productive posting here too.I have been pulling my hair out trying to fix an issue with sending data over WCF, I have read pretty much every THREAD on this forum regarding or similar to this issue without any successful solution.  I have a simple data object which has a [DataMember] with a data type of byte[]. I use this to send binary data from my web app as follows: Asp.net MVC website --> WCF Client (Has my Service References) --> My Services (MyServices.svc) --> Business/Data Tier Everything is being executed from within VS 2008 Pro.   Now I have successfully sent data up to 2.2MB, however it fails if i try and send a file such as 2.3MB or larger i get the following exceptions: General Exception Exception rethrown at [0]:    at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg)   at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.IMyService.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.MyServiceClient.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode) in c:\dev\softapp\softapp.wcfclient\service references\myservicereference\refe

custom 401/login failure error messages

I have a req to display a custom error message when a user fails to log in 3 times.  The default behavior seem to be for a redirect to something like this http://server/_layouts/AccessDenied.aspx?loginasanotheruser=true&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fserver2k7%2FPages%2FDefault%2Easpx after the third login attempt.  The resulting page just comes up as blank...I'm guessing because it failed auth.  My initial thoughts were to create a custom error page, and redirect with an http module.  That solution (while it does redirect) puts me right back to the initial problem of just a blank page being displayed after the failed auth.  I've been struggling with this for a while now, ANY thoughts or advice would be greaty appreciated.  Is it even possible?

Cannot set Host Distribution Rules with two Crawl databases, crawl component cannot be dismounted

When I try to set Host Distribution Rules I get the following error: Redistribution status: Failed - Crawl component GUID-crawl-5 on SERVERNAME cannot be dismounted. Check that the server is available. Farm Topology: 2 Frontend Server 2 Query Server with partitioned Index 2 Index Server with 2 crawl components with 2 crawl Databases 2 Application Server The 2 crawl components then stay in status Initializing, when retrying (only Option), I get the same error again I tried the following steps - Delete the Crawl Component that cannot be unmounted --> stops with error, Server cannot be contactet - Move the Crawl Component to Crawl Database 1 --> error - Reboot the Crawl Server - Take the crawl Server out of the Farm and rejoin, then delete the crawl component --> this worked, I could rebuild the Search Topology - Then try to set the Host Distribution Rules -> same error as in the beginning --> grr Any ideas?

Login Status - Login returns Bad URL

Hey there, I can't see anything for this so posting it in the hopes someone can help me. I have a website secured using Forms: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms name=".ASPXFORMSAUTH"/> </authentication> My login page is the usual login.aspx so I don't need to set the loginurl. I have a standard loginsatus control to display the current status and allow the user to login/logout.<asp:LoginStatus ID="LoginStatus1" runat="server" /> On the my development machine this works fine. However when I release it to a test site when I click the "login" link the request sent to the server includes as number of percentage-coded / so the request looks something like this: http://wwwmysitehere.com/%2flogin.aspx%3fReturnUrl%3d%252fDefault.aspx (returns a "A potentially dangerous Request.Path value was detected from the client (?)." error) or without the "Default.aspx" returnurl:http://wwwmysitehere.com%2flogin.aspx%3fReturnUrl%3d%252f (returns page not found)I can't see any thing wrong with this. Can some one help me this?   Thanks, Aigeec

Linked Server Mapping Error "Access to the remote server is denied because no login-mapping exists"

SQL Server 2005 SP3 32bit server
Connecting to an Oracle 10g server
Loaded OracleClient 10g

I'm able to ping the Oracle Server, and ODBC connect and able to run an open query with a single remote user id.

Issue: When I use the security context "Be made using this security context" it connects.
When I choose the "Not Be Made" WITH THE SAME USER ID & PASSWORD, I get the mapping error.

asp.net forms authentication with route handling - error, routes not recognized, returns to login

 I just created a small site with form authentication with route handling.  Without forms authentication, the pages route just fine.  With forms, it returns back to the login page as it is not one of my allowed locations specified in my web.config file.

I know I probably need to write a custom route handler.  Does anyone have an example I can follow for this?  Thanks.

cannot login to Central administration sharepoint 2010 - please help URGENT

I am not able to login to sharepoint administration, with farm admin, local admin, accounts, all logins are rejected, i recieve a page not available message.

I have run Psconfig, did not work.

I have even repaired the sharepoint 2010, (renamed 14 folder before repairing), This server is development box.

I have the option of fresh sharepoint 2010 install, I have around 8 sites, How do i attach the old sites back to new install.

I have used alrenate access mappings, is that causing issues.

This problem started when i installed a vendor product, Sharepoint informed me that premiumsite feature is not installed, I went ahead and installed premiumsite for the collection, then CA went down.

I am not sure, if it is sharepoint issue or iis issue, In the mean time, i have uninstalled the vendor product which was causing the issue

Please help me to revive the central admin

Thank you neel

WCF async call return a 10054 error: "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

I have a WCF consumed by a Windows Mobile 5.0 or above application with .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP2 and C#.

Sql Server 2008 logs Authentication mode incorrectly avoids remote login

Im trying to connect SQL server 2008 Express R2 installed on XP sp3 pc through ODBC SQL Server driver with a Windows 7 PC. I managed to define static IP ports and setup firewall. Now the ODBC connection successfully gets created by accepting uid : sa and my password given.

Now Im getting "login failed for user ". " msg from my application. When I run the same application with same ODBC connection created in the SQL server PC it works fine. The two pcs operate in a workgroup.

Following  is the error log. Im surprised to note that the server logs its in Mixed mode initially and later makes a cry that its in Windows Authentication mode. !!!!

Remote login - 2008 R2

I'm having an issue connecting to my SSRS instance remotely.  Everything works fine when I'm logged on to the server.

I can log in remotely via SSMS and BIDS using basic authentication only.  When I try to login through windows authentication it says I do not have access (I am an administrator and again, local login works fine).

When I attempt to browse to the http://servername/reportserver or http://servername/reports URLs through IE, I get a user/pass popup which appears 3 times then just leaves me with a blank screen, no error message.

I have checked rsreportserver.config and have verified that I have the correct URL in the <ReportServerUrl> tag.

This is otherwise a fresh install.

Does anyone have any insight?  It seems strange that basic auth works when windows auth doesn't.
