what i mean is, the employee fill a form in to request some vacation days using a custom list in my wss3 site. i assume that these data will be stored in the WSS_content database. now when the HR department get this filled form they have to store the data of the form in to a database but not in the WSS_Content database.

Getting an error when processing a dimension, Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB reported an overflow of the data type for column 0. Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while the 'xxxxxx' attribute of the 'Dim XXXXXX' dimension from the 'XXXXXXX' database was being processed. Content of this dimension is very similar to one that is processing no problem. The content of the dimension is one field only of type date.  The original content was imported through SSIS from a DB2 database on an iseries machine.  Thought a first the issue was because of the data contains some null values but the dimension the process OK also has some null  values.  The dimension that processes ok is also a single field of type date. data type problem in import data from excel file

Dear All,

I am importing the data from excel file using following code.

connstr = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & Server.MapPath(strFolderFileName) & ";Extended Properties=HTML Import;"
                conn = New OleDbConnection(connstr)
                Dim strSQL As String = "SELECT * FROM [" & strWorkSheetName & "]"

                Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand(strSQL, conn)

                Dim da As New OleDbDataAdapter(cmd)

Now the problem is if a coulmn vlaue start with a number value like "15" then the other string value like "W15" in that column is ignored in the datatable.

eg. The excel column value     Column1

How to insert SQL2008 date data type using ADODB.Recordset and Native Client?

I am working with a classic ASP application that we are trying to keep hobbling along while it gets rewritten.  The underlying database has been upgraded many times and is currently running on SQL Server 2008.

Recently a column of table was updated from a smalldatetime (with a check constraint to ensure it didn't have any time values) to simply the date type, but the code now does not work.  I was originally using SQLOLEDB, and was confident that treating the date as a string would be find with our client.  Unfortunately it does not, nor does it work using the SQLNCLI10 client.

This is the stripped down code:

Set adoConnection = aspServer.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
adoConnection.Open "Provider=SQLNCLI10"  ' Details Removed
Set adoRS = aspServer.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
adoRS.CursorLocation = adUseClient
adoRS.Open "SELECT * FROM TestTable WHERE id = 0", adoConnection, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic, adCmdText
adoRS("datecolumn") = "09/20/2010"

On the update line, I get the following error:

Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0 error '80040e07'

INSERT statement and Getting Data From User Into My Database

I have spent 2 days reading and trying to figure this out and everything i have read and every book I have brought only tells how to read info from a database and how to edit info that is in a database and they all display the data in the database!

I have a page created (getinfo.aspx)

On that page I have a correctly configured SQLDatasource (SQLSource1) (it is set to allow insert, edit and delete).

I have 1 fileupload control

I have 2 text boxes

I have 2 drop down list boxes

The 2 drop down list boxes are "binded" to to seperate tables (via 2 other correctly configured SQLDatasource controls 0 but with out permission to insert, edit or delete) and they correctly provide a drop down list for the user to pick from the 51 states and the 200+ Countries. Those work wonderfully).

I also have a Button Control

The table (myFriends) that SQLSource1 is "connected to" has the following columns:
Column Name  Type   Length Nullable
   userID  uniqueidentifier 16 false
   userName  sql_variant  80

Correct Way to Insert Data from Text Boxes on ASPX page into SQL Database Using VB

Please help me, I have been trying this for a week now and this is how far I have gotten.

I am new to this, and I am using MS Visual Web Developer Express.

OK - This is what I have come up with, but when I run it I get the following error  (I decided to just try to use a simplified table just to get an understanding of the basic concepts):

Partial Class label_form
    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page

    Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
        ' Declaring variables
        Dim username, labelname, ownersname, address1, address2, city, state, zipcode, country, contactnumber, emailaddress, data_source, con, sql_insert

        ' Check if Necessary Text Is Missing ( will do this once I can get it to work with no empty text boxes)

        ' Get Values from TextBoxes
        username = txtUserName.Text
        labelname = txtLabelName.Text
        ownersname = txtOwnersName

Insert XML data into table problem

For the life of me I cannot figure out what's wrong with my SP. I'm receiving an XML document with a bunch of invoices like

And I need to write each invoice as a record in SQL Server 2005

I'm getting the following error

Msg 170, Level 15, State 1, Procedure pcdAddInvoices, Line 39
Line 39: Incorrect syntax near '.'.

 -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here

SQL Select problem with bit data type

I have an odd situation.  I wish to select the value of a bit field in my MS SQL query.  I want to know if it is true or false (1 or 0), but my query seems to somehow converting all the responses (true or false) to the letter 'A'.  I want to know what the bit value is: true or false.

Here is the query:

SELECT dbo.roles.pk_role_id,
FROM   dbo.members
       INNER JOIN dbo.roles
         ON dbo.members.pk_id = dbo.roles.fk_member_id
       INNER JOIN dbo.teams
         ON dbo.roles.fk_teambar_number = dbo.teams.pk_id
WHERE  ( dbo.roles.fk_teambar_number = @FK_TEAMBAR_NUMBER )
       AND ( dbo.roles.TYPE = 'Player' )

Why is it converting all TEAMS.ACTIVE date to the letter 'A' for both true and false ???  I bind the results to a gridview and both true and false are listed as an 'A', and I get the same thing where I run the query in my GoDaddy query analyzer.  Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Is There Other Methods to Create and INSERT data into A SQL Database besides ADODB.Connection

OK - I have everything working on my Production computer to find out that when I upload my page to my Shared Hosting Server, to find out my application will not work because I do not have high enough permissions to for aspcompat to be true.

This works on my development server which of course I have full access to:

        'Creating Connection Object and opening the database
        con = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")

        'Done. Close the connection
        con = Nothing
        Response.Write("Your Information was Successfully Added.")

Is there another method to execute my  sql string (which contains my INSERT INTO statement, and is in my .vb code file ) with just a Medium Access Level?  Other wise I will have to purchase a Dedicated server, which currently I can not really afford!
