Custom DynamicData Default.aspx GridView

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
On the Default.aspx page the GridView control is populated programmatically by setting its Datasource to a list of table objects. Is there some way I could populate this GridView manually using my own set of NavigateUrls and DisplayNames?Simon

Custom Default.aspx SharePoint 2010

I would like to replace the default.aspx with a custom default.aspx.  I have been able to accomplish this with a feature. I am finding the when deployed the new default.aspx page shows up in the following directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\ProjectInsightSPMaster_ProjectInsightLayoutFeature\defaultpage I also have a default.aspx located in the following directory.  This is the one that is deployed with the site definition. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\SiteTemplates\PISP    When I browse to a site in IE, it is in fact looking at the correct (new) default.aspx page which is located in the FEATURES directory.  How does SharePoint know to use this default.aspx page instead of the one located in the SiteTemplates directory.  This is confusing to me.  Can you explain?   Is this the correct way of deploying an updated default.aspx?   dave

Content Editor Web Part in default.aspx not copied over.

I have a CEWP with some content in the default.aspx page on one site, and I downloaded and uploaded the default.aspx page to another site collection. But when I display the default.aspx page in the browser the CEWP is not there anymore.

Is the CEWP detached from the default.aspx page and must also be copied over to the new site collection? If so, then where is the CEWP stored?

Thanks for any help.

Custom Editform.aspx crashes Sharepoint Designer

Hi there,

I've recently designed a sharepoint list and customised newform.aspx and editform.aspx. I made copies of the originals then customised the copies.
On both forms I simply:

* Closed original List Form web part
* Added Custom List Form
* Added some section breaks (<tr>) to the form to break it into sections
* Added a new css style to change the background colour on the section breaks (table rows)

Now NewForm.aspx works fine. However after making above changes in EditForm.aspx, I saved it. However whenever I try to reopen EditForm.aspx in Sharepoint Designer (SD), SD crashes! I can only open it in Text view. The error details reported by SD are:

Redirecting default.aspx to root virtual directory

I have a simple ASP.NET 3.5 application running under IIS7 under a virtual directory. So the URL of my app is like http://site.com/app. I want to 301-redirect the request to site.com/app/default.aspx to site.com/app for better SEO. I have to do this redirect through code only, not by any IIS settings. I am unable to do so via code mentioned in this article:http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/072810-1.aspxThe code:if (request.RawUrl.Equals("/default.aspx")) { newUrl = string.Format("{0}://{1}{2}", request.Url.Scheme, request.Url.Authority, request.RawUrl.Remove(request.RawUrl.LastIndexOf("/default.aspx", StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase))); context.Response.Status = "301 moved permanently"; context.Response.AddHeader("Location", newUrl); } seems to go into an infinite loop when the application is under a virtual directory. the request.RawUrl property always returns "/default.aspx" even after a 301 redirect causing the infinite loop. How can I fix this issuhttp://forums.asp.net/AddPost.aspx?ForumID=27e?

Searching for custom properties in a default search

Hi all, I have added some custom properties in to Manage User Properties in my User Profile Service Application. The issue I'm having is that I'm unable to obtain search results from these properties. For example, if in the Enterprise Search / People tab I enter "Dave" and click search, then I'll be presented with results of people who's name matches "Dave". If I enter "Information Technology" then I'll get a list of all users who's department is "Information Technology". So far we're okay! But let's go back to the custom property. Let's say it's called "Clients" and it is for storing client names against the staff profiles. If I search for "Microsoft" and a user has Microsoft in their client property then no results are found. I've created the managed properties in the Metadata Property Mappings of my search service application, done full crawls but nothing. If I search for "clients:microsoft" then I get results. So the question is how do I or is it even possible to get custom metadata properties to show up in a default search? Thanks!

Adding a custom control to the SharePoint 2010 Team Site Wiki Page Template ( wkpstd.aspx ) programm

Topic This is maybe my last post about the Team Site Wiki Page customization with the aim of exceeding its limitations. This time we are going to customize the unique template ( wkpstd.aspx) by replacing the control that renders the editable content by a custom one. In this post example, we will take advantage of the use of this custom control to render not editable additional contents, for instance, a header and a footer that could be the same for a specific Wiki Page Library. Of course, we are not going to really customize the template, but we are going to use a delegate control to replace the control at runtime. Here are the screen shots of the result: We can see a non editable Header and Footer on the Team Site Wiki Page In edit mode these additional contents are not rendered, but we can add new content as usual And of course, after having saved the page, the new content is rendered wtih the non editable Header and Footer. Steps required   If you look at the Team Site Wiki Page template, wkpstd.aspx, you can see the control that is rendering the editable content/ <SharePoint:EmbeddedFormField ID="WikiField" FieldName="WikiField" ControlMode="Display" runat="server" /> We are first going to create a custom EmbeddedFormField control Then, we are going to use a delegate control to replace the native EmbeddedFor

modify/override properties of default sharepoint modal dialogs (ex. editview.aspx) using javascript

Hello all, I would like to know how can I modify (override) some properties of the default sharepoint modal dialogs using Javascript. Ex. the size and location of editview.aspx. I while ago I asked a question about overriding the DialogResult in the display view dialog. I got an answer from Zach which looked like this:             sb.Append("<script type=\"text/javascript\">");             sb.Append(@"window.setTimeout(function () {");             sb.Append(@"if (window.frameElement && typeof(window.frameElement.overrideDialogResult) == 'function')");             sb.Append(@"{");             sb.Append(@"SP.SOD.executeFunc('sp.ui.dialog.js', 'SP.UI.DialogResult.OK', function () {");             sb.Append(@"window.frameElement.overrideDialogResult(SP.UI.DialogResult.OK); ");             sb.Append(@"});");             sb.Append(@"}");

Custom Email Alert template creating links to DispForm.aspx

I have a requirement to customise the alert template for a standard blog post list. To do this I: 1. Created a copy of alertstemplate.xml 2. Copied the genericList alert template node and customised 3. Registered the new template file against the site collection, iisreset and finally assigned the new Alert template to the list, when alerts are created the custom template is emailed. The problem now arises that the 'View <Post Title>' in the toolbar section now creates a hyperlink to http..../Lists/Posts/Dispform.aspx?ID=xx rather than post.aspx. I have checked using sharepoint designer that the list supporting files has the correct display item form of Lists/Posts/Post.aspx. Additionally if I reset the alert template for the list back to use the Generic list template the same problem still occurs so this leads me to believe it is not the customisations that are the problem. Code used to assign the alert template to the Posts list: var ats = new SPAlertTemplateCollection((SPWebService) site.WebApplication.Parent); var newTemplate = ats[alertName]; if (newTemplate == null) { // We did not find the specified Template. throw new Exception("Failed to find template SPAlertTemplateType.NewsPost in the template collection."); } list.AlertTemplate = newTemplate; list.Update(); Any assistance will be most welcome, thanks in advance. Retracting feature which deployed custom master page delete default.master

Hi, I am not sure if solution to this issue is already posted? I have my feature which copy my custom.master which is copy of default.master from hive to master page gallery of web. The problem is that everything works fine with feature activate and deactivate but when I retract the solution from the server. All pages except site settings page stop working saying "file not found". I redeploy the solution, it starts working again. Looks like the retract is deleting default.master as well?
