TabPanel and Section 508

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi all.  I'm working with the AJAX Control Toolkit TabContainer/TabPanel.  I have a requirement to be compatible with Section 508.  I did a quick example for my client and they say that there are a couple of issues that will need to be overcome.  The issues that I am running into are:The headertext for the panels runs together when read by Jaws.The headertext for the panels does not display as clickable.The panels do not appear to be keyboard accessible.For item 3, I have tried the AccessKey property of the Panels.  Unfortunately, I don't see anything in the output that looks like the accesskey property is being generated in the output html.  I set the AccessKey property to 1, 2, and 3 for panel's 1, 2, and 3.On the headertext property, I am looking at the HeaderTemplate, but am not sure if that will help out.  Any ideas?If you have any thoughts on how to make things section 508 accessible with the TabPanel/TabContainer, I would appreciate hearing your thoughts.Wally

Ajax Tab: Each TabPanel with different Color

I have situation like, Each tab panel should display with different colors based on the status. Example:

Completed tabs should display in "Green"

Inprogress status tabs should display in "Red"

Not eligible status tabs should display in "Gray".

Ajax Tab look and feel is very good. So, thought of using the Ajax Tab for my above requirement. I tried to change it. But I am not able to change the color of the each tab.

Is it possible to change the color of each tab in Ajax Tab control? Pleas help me.

If not possible, please suggest any other tab controls to achieve above my requirement.

Note:I already tried with IE tab controls, since it provides me that flexibility to change the color of the each tab. But, It is crashing my browswer. I am not sure about the reason.

I tried Jquery option, since I need to change the tab status dynamically based on the selection made in that same page, I am not able to achieve this one in the JQuery.

An endpoint configuration section for contract 'xxx' could not be loaded because more than one end

I'm trying to test calling a webservice, I've found several free ones on http://webserviceshare.com, but none of them work for me.  Some of them give example calling code in C# which I've translated to VB.NET, they're typically just two to four lines, I don't think I've translated them incorrectly.

On that I've tried is US Zip Validator.  I added a Service Reference to http://www.webservicemart.com/uszip.asmx?WSDL, called ZipService.

I then call it like so:

            Dim myZipService As ZipService.USZipSoapClient = New ZipService.USZipSoapClient()
            Dim myCity As String = myZipService.ValidateZip("27707")

I get the following error on the first line of code:

"An endpoint configuration section for contract 'ZipService.USZipSoap' could not be loaded because more than one endpoint configuration for that contract was found. Please indicate the preferred endpoint configuration section by name."

Web deployment project - web.config section replacement does not add remove tag

I have a web application that is actually installed as a component of a third party site.  In some configurations, I need to remove certain connection strings and re-add them.  I'm replacing this web.config section with a xml file that includes the following:

      <remove name="MyOverridenConnection"/>
      <add connectionString="Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=MyDb;Data Source=MyServer" name="MyOverridenConnection"

For some reason the remove tag is left out during the substitution and I end up with the following in the installed config:

      <add connectionString="Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=MyDb;Data Source=MyServer" name="MyOverridenConnection"

Is there any way to issue removes in replaced sec

Unrecognized configuration section httpHandlers.

I spliced this from the webconfig of the working program into another application's webconfig.
I have just this one error here. Is it ok to have different locations with different system.web areas

Infopath and Section 508 Accessibility

Hey, guys! I'm building a web site for a Section 508 workgroup, and I need the site to be 100% accessible (including the administration module I'm making for the team. We're using SharePoint MOSS 2007 and I recommended using infopath to enter data into the site's database (and also to populate downloadable Microsoft Word documents). The customer claimed that InfoPath is not Section 508 compliant, which seemed odd to me because the forms can be modified to anything you want them to be (including 508 compliant).

I even found this guide to making InfoPath accessible:

I'm curious if there are any caveats to making accessible forms in Infopath, or if the information I've gathered is incorrect.

How to list existing blogs in a section the portal of blogs in sharepoint

I need to know how to list the existing blogs on my blog portal for users to access to read, in sharepoint 2007.

Not sure which section to post this, but hopefully someone can help with video overlay

We are going to be displaying videos within our application. We want to be able to overlay a semi-transparent layer or whatever over the video with data from our database about that video.

similar to some youtube video's where when you mouse over the video as its playing, a small portion on the bottom of the video displays or even at the end of the video when it gives you option to view 2 other videos.. we woudl like to do that affect but with data .

I guess another example of what we want is the effect of a modal popup but over a video file.

This forum may not be the place to ask, but i searched around and everything i found was video overlay software.. where you can create your own overlay by opening the video and editing.. we dont want to edit our video, they have to stay intact.. we simply want to place a transparent image over it with data about it.

Issues with dynamically created TabContainer (Hide/Show TabPanel)

I have a web page that contains an UpdatePanel. In that panel, there is a TabContainer control that has 5 TabPanels, only the first one "Tab 1" will be displayed during initial page load. There is an Add button in "Tab 1", whenever it gets clicked, I will add (show) the next TabPanel (Tab 2, Tab 3, etc., all the way to Tab 5). "Tab 2" thru "Tab 5" contains a Close button that will close (hide) the current tab when clicked.

I'm doing all of these from code behind (dynamically create controls in Page_Init event and re-generate them during postback, track each TabPanel's content in a session variable, etc.), and everything seems to work just fine IF after adding several TabPanels, I remove  them in order (i.e. remove Tab 5 first, then Tab 4, Tab 3, etc.). It will NOT work whenever I try to remove a tab in the middle, then I will get all kinds of strange results.

I've attached the sample codes here for reviewing and testing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

inline expression or binding expression in the server head section

Hello, I write inline expression and binding expression in the server head section:<head runat="server"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<%= Request.ApplicationPath %>themes/style1.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<%# Request.ApplicationPath %>themes/style2.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<%= ResolveUrl("~") %>themes/style3.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="<%= Request.ApplicationPath %>js/jwork.js"></script> </head> protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Page.Header.DataBind(); }  But both kinds of expression aren't parsed or executed except the  ResovleUrl menthod. The html renders like this: <head><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="&lt;%= Request.ApplicationPath  %>themes/style1.css" /><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="&lt;%# Request.ApplicationPath  %>themes/style2.css" />    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/themes/style3.css"  />

How to make footer section stay below the pagelayout?

Hi. I have a branded site with a top menu section and a similar footer section(33x900px). When I add text in a page and the taxt goes on below the end of the screen, the footer stays at the bottom of the screen and hides part of the text. How can I make it stay at the bottom dynamically? Always below the last line of text below the end of the screen if needed? I have a DIV for the footer section with it's own class so if I just have the correct format, It should be easy to do right? Example: see the 'earthy' footer on Drisgills blog http://blog.drisgill.com/ Thats what I want.   ThanksThomas BalkestÃ¥hl - Technical Specialist - SharePoint

In Sharepoint 2007 while creating a group "Give Group Permission to this Site" section is missing

I have a strange anamoly in Sharepoint 2007 but I am guessing I am missing some minor step since I am new to Sharepoint. I am trying to create a new group which I have done before successfully. 1.On the home page of the site,  I click Site Actions, point to Site Settings, and then click People and Groups. 2.On the New menu, I click New Group. 3.Type a name for the group, and then type a brief description of the group's attributes in About Me. 4.I change the owner of the group or click Browse to find an individual's account name. 5.In the Group Settings section, I click the options to specify who can see the members of this group and who can add or remove members. 6.In the Membership Requests section, I click the options (No, No) and no email address entered Here is the problem part: I am supposed to see  the "Give Group Permission to this Site section"  but I see only Create and Cancel buttons.   Can you please help why I do not see  "Give Group Permission to this Site section". Is there another way to assign group permission?

You may get this error when trying to browse an asp.net application. The debug information shows that "This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS." However, this error occurs primarily out of 2 scenarios. 1. When you create an new web application using visual studio.net, it automatically creates the virtual directory and configures it as an application. However, if you manually create the virtual directory and it is not configured as an application, then you will not be able to browse the application and may get the above error. The debug information you get as mentioned above, is applicable to this scenario. To resolve it, Right Click on the virtual directory - select properties and then click on "Create" next to the "Application" Label and the textbox. It will automatically create the "application" using the virtual directory's name. Now the application can be accessed. 2. When you have sub-directories in your application, you can have web.config file for the sub-directory. However, there are certain properties which cannot be set in the web.config of the sub-directory such as authentication, session state (you may see that the error message shows the line number where the authentication or sessionstate is declared in the web.config of the sub-directory). Infopath 2010 - Section hidden

I have a section in my Infopath form that only a few people are supposed to see. I have used conditonal formatting rules to "hide" it. I am restricting based on user name that I am getting from GETUSERPROFILE which is working just fine. My problem is now that I have more than 5 users that I need to add to that conditonal formatting - there are only 5 slots for options.
