Looking for examples of this, but can't find anything specific. I'm new to ASP.NET, and C# at the same time... so I'm struggling to get it right...  Thanks, Nick

response.redirect asp.net to asp page

I have a mix of asp.net and asp classic pages in the same application. Could any tell how do I do a response.redirect to the asp classic pages? I get a error using the normal way.

Response.Redirect cannot be called in a page callback error message.

Hi.  I'm using the Dundas Chart Controls in VS 2005.  These controls are built utilizing AJAX.  I have a basic page with a dundas chart control containing a funnel chart.  The funnel contains Quotes, Sales Orders and Invoices.  When the user clicks on the control, I want to determine whether they clicked on Quotes, Sales Orders or Invoices and transfer to the appropriate Details Page.  I've got the code working to determine which transaction type they clicked on; but, I get the "Response.Redirect cannot be called in a page callback." error when the page tries to redirect.  Note: I get a similar issue if I try server.transfer.

 Here's my code:

Dim hitTestResult As Dundas.Charting.WebControl.HitTestResult = Chart1.HitTest(e.X, e.Y)

            If Not (hitTestResult Is Nothing) Then

                Dim clicked As Dundas.Charting.WebControl.DataPoint = hitTestResult.Series.Points(hitTestResult.PointIndex)

                Select Case hitTestResult.PointIndex
                    Case 0

Download a file then either redirect or refresh the page (after response.end)??

Hi all,

I am using some code similar to the code below to open a word document on my ASP.net app.  Once the file has been downloaded and opened I then want to either redirect to another page or refresh the screen but nothing works after response.end and if i add it before response.end the browser never downloads the file?

Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + file.Name
Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", file.Length.ToString());
Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream";

Any ideas?  Thanks

How i pass parameter and get response from asp page?

Hi All,

I am working on a windows application using C#.

How i pass parameter and get response from asp page in my application?

Passing Linq Statement between master and content page

I usually work with windows forms, and am just starting to work with ASP.Net, so appologies if this is a dumb question!

I have a master page which has a search button on it. The results of this are built up using a Linq statement and if there are any results, I want to display the results in a contents page.

On the masterpage, I have the following code:

Private _res

    Public Overridable ReadOnly Property SearchRes()
            Return _res
        End Get
    End Property

 Private Sub DoSearch()
   'some code to get a linq result

    If res.Any Then
            _res = res
            Server.Transfer("SearchResults.aspx", True)
            'no results
            LabelNoRes.Visible = True
        End If
 End Sub

On the SearchResults.aspx page I have this code.

Dim m As pxSite = CType(Page.Master, MasterPage)
        If m.SearchRes IsNot Nothing Then
            Label1.Text = "Results found = " & m.SearchRes.Count
        End If

m.searchRes is always nothing.

What am I doing wrong here?

Redirect to a mobile page

Hi please can anyone help? I have a simple website with a home page called defaut.aspx, also I have a page with in this site called mobile.aspx. My question is, bearing in mind that I posses very little knowledge of VB, what code do I need to place in the default.aspx to detect what kind of device someone is using and redirect them to the mobile page (mobile.aspx)? This needs to be quite up-to-date preferably for blackberry and nokia devices?

Detecting PPC device on startup page to redirect?

I was wondering (since a search didn't find any posts) if there is a way for my startup page to detect what kind of device (PocketPC or web browser specifically) is loading the page and if it is a PocketPC, then redirect to the mobile pages? I will only be using PocketPC's exclusively as a mobile device.

Thanks for any suggestions!

passing page title through a param

Hello all,

   I am new to ASP.NET, and was wondering how to pass a Page title through a parameter.  In classic ASP I could just use something like: <title><%=Pagetitle%></title> but I cannot seem to get this to work in ASP.NET.

Thank you in advance,

The New Guy... Smile

HyperLink use to send request parameter to another page

I need help with the syntax for passing a record field value from SSRS to an asp page

I have tried several variations without success.  Here is where I am now.  The goal is from inside Report Manager report, link to an asp page with a filed value. This is from the expression line of the Jump to URL entry. Also I am trying to open a new page http://www.whereever.com/CSSurvey01.asp?RecordID=" & Fields!respid.Value

Is it possible to give parameter to the Page Viewer web part?

Page viewer web part gives iView to the website eg. http://www.test.com. This works fine! Our customer would like give parameters like http://www.test.com/abc?name=John. First question is that is it possible to give personalized parameters to the url? Any chances to give SharePoint user name as parameter?  Kenny_I

How to set the variation root redirect page to ALWAYS go to a preset label?

Hi. I have setup variations and I have 4 labels, SE EN FI DK. This is a public website and I want every visitor to first be directed to the predetermined label, for example SE. This no matter what setting they have in their browser... In Sweden, most people have English as the language in the browser since this gets you better content in most places, but in this case, it gets them the EN label instead of the SE label as default. How can I change this in the best way possible? Are there any easily adaptable solutions available? Like on codeplex? The MSDN way is not to my liking, manually customize every front end or compile my own DLL....Noo, there has to be a better way right? (How to: Customize the Variations Label Control Logic http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms551625.aspx) Appreciate any help you can give me on this. Passing values from web page to custom security trimmer in SharePoint 2010

Hi, In SharePoint 2007 we had a custom security trimmer that implemented ISecurityTrimmer interface. We also had a custom webpart used for search. Now, using HttpContext we passed values from the webpart to security trimmer with additional info needed to trim the results. It worked since trimmer was executed in the same w3wp process as webpart. Now in SharePoint 2010, the architecture for ISecurityTrimmer2 has changed, as it's executed in search process (other w3wp) - not the webpart w3wp so it has no access to the HttpContext. Question is: how to pass custom data, in form of the string, to a security trimmer when search is done from custom code in webart?

Passing parameters from ASP.Net web page to SSRS report

I have a web page that displays some data.  The user first selects a date range on the web page and then can edit some data.  When they click a submit button, I want to run a report.  But I would like to pass the start date and end date values that the user already entered on the web page to the report.  Is this possible?  Can I use the value of a session variable in the report? Bob

Problems passing parameters to SSRS report from ASP.Net web page

I have a web page that displays some data.   When they click a submit button, I want to run a report.  But I would like to pass the start year/month and end year/month values that the user already entered on the web page to the report.  Here is what my url looks like when the report is displayed: http://xyzserver/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fReports%2fDevicesAllNew&rs:Command=Render&StartYYMM=201007&EndYYMM=201008 But my report displays the 2 textboxes for my StartYYMM and EndYYMM parameters as empty.  What am I doing wrong?  I did a google search and I saw something about using ReportServer instead of ReportManager.  I notice at the top of the browser when I run my report, it reads "Report Manager - Windows Internet Explorer".  Is this correct?
