Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

if i use checksum_agg(checksum(*)) from table A i had noticed that sometimes checksum_agg overflows - eg gives the same results for different sets of data   is there  a way to get better checksum - eg average?

Overflow when image not present

Hi,

I have the following on an image so that i can load :

onError="Repl_img(this)"

The function is:

function Repl_img(sender)
        {
           // you may need to comment this out if no images are reachable
            try
            {
                sender.src = "dir/NoImage.jpg";
            }
            catch(err)
            {
            }
        }

When i run on a machien which doesn't have the noimage present i receive a stack overflow at line 0

I've put the try catch around it and still receive this.

I'm wondering if i have the try catch correct or i need something else to fix?

Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB reported an overflow of the data type for colu

Getting an error when processing a dimension, Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB reported an overflow of the data type for column 0. Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while the 'xxxxxx' attribute of the 'Dim XXXXXX' dimension from the 'XXXXXXX' database was being processed. Content of this dimension is very similar to one that is processing no problem. The content of the dimension is one field only of type date.  The original content was imported through SSIS from a DB2 database on an iseries machine.  Thought a first the issue was because of the data contains some null values but the dimension the process OK also has some null  values.  The dimension that processes ok is also a single field of type date. Any help greatly appreciated, Roscoe

arithmetic overflow exception

Hi, I have a textbox which accepts a decimal. This is stored in the db as decimal(19,5). I get an arithmetic overflow exception when i try to save a value that is greater than 14 places before the decimal.e.g. 123456789123456.36I understand that the 19 includes the 5 decimal places, so i'm trying to fix this by setting a maxlength on the textbox. What should it be? If i set it to 14, then i must enter a number with decimals and the total length can only be 14. e.g. 345678923.45If i set it to 19, it will crash for numbers greater than 14 points before the decimal. e.g 123456789123456.36Not sure how to handle this...any suggestions?

CHECKSUM_AGG( BINARY_CHECKSUM( ID ) ) as a bigint

I'm doing Select CHECKSUM_AGG(BINARY_CHECKSUM( OP.ID ) FROM objPlat OP WHERE OP.oID = O.oID table OP has 10244 rows table O has 2425 rows My number being returned ends up being negative, so I'm guessing that means it's hitting the int limit.  Is there any way to use this as a bigint or is there another way to do it? Thanks in advance

Stupid developer tricks - When a data type overflow doesn't cause an overflow

Build a very basic cube that has a dimension with a hierarchy and a single measure.  For example, a time dimension with Year, Quarter, Month, Date along with a quantity sold.  The quantity sold is an integer in your database. Now, load up your database with test data such that the quantity when rolled up to a quarter level will be just less than the maximum value for an integer.  Process your cube and see the absolutely stupid value that gets displayed for a year. For those of you reading along and not wanting to build a cube to see what happens, here it is in a nutshell. To make the math simple, we'll use 2 billion as the max value for an int and -2 billion and the min value.  Say for example that the quantity sold for each quarter was 1 billion units.  When you look at the cube from the quarter on down, you see nice, neat POSITIVE values.  But, when you look at the quantity sold for the year, SSAS reports the quantity sold as 0. No, it didn't substitute 0 for a data type overflow (4 billion exceeds the 2 billion max).  Instead, the developer of this "feature" decided that it would be a really nice idea to just ignore the fact that you had a data type overflow and just treat the range of values as a looping structure.  So, his code said, take the aggregated value, run it all the way up to the last value in the range and tak

Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type smallint

Can anyone tell me what exactly this means? Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type smallint.

Silent Arithmetic Overflow

I recently discovered that SSAS silently handles arithmetic overflow and returns garbage. For example when calculating aggregations for a 4-byte integer measure, when the sum exceeds the maximum storage it returns the overflow garbage instead of raising an error. I can work round the problem by changing the measure storage to 8-bytes, but that doubles my storage and the number of bytes I have to read for the aggregate. Is there a way round this problem that doesn't effect performance?

Collapsible Panel and overflow-y: hidden

Hi Guys,We added collapsible panel to our site quite sometime back but it seems that they are no longer working in FF. It seems to be after the upgrade of the collapsible panel dll. Printing Problem :- Style.Overflow property in Firefox

Hi All,

I have a web application which has two DIV, one is main and one is child. I am having  problem in printing multiple pages. There is a lot of data in the child DIV and i am using JavaScript functions to control the print functionality. When i print using window.print(), only the data on the main page currently being showed is printed. I further researched and checked out the Style.Overflow property.

Now i am using divMain.style.overflow = "visible"

After this the complete print comes. But in Firefox, the scroll bar disappears and only single page is left with no scroll bar

Now if after print i give divMain.style.overflow = "Auto" OR divMain.style.overflow = "Scroll", still the scroll bar doesn't come and if it comes then its inactive. I am unable to see the complete data on the page after the print is taken.

The problem is not coming in I.E and the full data with scroll bar is recovered in I.E.

Please help me how to get the normal page with full data and scroll bar after printing in Firefox.

Thanks,

Manuj

Please anyone can explain CHECKSUM_AGG

Hi,

Please anyone can explain CHECKSUM_AGG. I want to know what it is doing exactly.

Use below queries to explain it.

arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow

I do not understand how this problem happens, and I need help.  The code below is very simple.  It collects data entered into controls; instantiates a class; then sends the data to a class method for processing.  No resulting value is returned to this code.

You can see that there are no areithmetic operations performed on the data, but I sometimes get the error "arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow" right here on the last line cRating.SetRating(etc...).
