Non-linear aggregates not computing correctly

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
We have several cubes with non-linear aggregates in them.  (DISTINCT COUNT to be specific).  These cubes have partitions in each measure group.  Each partition also has an aggregation design associated to it. When you Process Full, there aren't any issues.  However, when you process individual partitions, the non-linear aggregates no longer compute correctly.  Sometimes they double or triple what the value should be.  Sometimes they are missing values and don't produce correct calculations.  For example, the distinct count of days is currently producing 30 for August 2010 even though we have 31 days worth of data loaded into the cube. No, there is nothing wrong with the cube definition.  No, there is nothing wrong with the database.  No, there is nothing wrong with the data. We fixed this problem several months ago in 2 of our cubes based on a suggestion on this forum to process indexes on the entire cube after we finished processing the dimensions.  That fixed the problem for 2 of our cubes and those cubes continue to compute correctly. We just finished switching 2 other cubes to partition processing from Process Full.  We added a job step to Process Indexes on the entire cube once the partitions were processed.  However, this does NOT fix the problem and the non-linear aggregates are NOT computing correctly, eve

Category attribute of user control property does not work correctly in categories tab.

I have a User Control (ascx) and a property which a want to display in my categories tab in Visual Studio in the category named "Styles".

[Category("Styles"), DefaultValue(""), Description("The value for formating something.")]
public String MyFormatProperty
set { /* the code for set */; }
get { /* the code for get */; }

And here is the problem: Actually I do not need a get, because I only have to set the property (write only property). But when I omit the get, the property is displayed in the "Misc" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio. Only when I code the get as well, then the property is displayed correctly in the "Styles" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio.

Does anybody know why? How can I display the category correctly only with set?

Thanks, S.

C# In-Depth: Harness the Features of C# to Power Your Scientific Computing Projects

The C# language has been used quite successfully in many kinds of projects, including Web, database, GUI, and more. One of the last frontiers for the application of C# code may well be scientific computing. But can C# measure up to the likes of FORTRAN and C++ for scientific and mathematical projects?In this article, the author answers that question by looking at the .NET common language runtime to determine how the JIT compiler, Microsoft intermediate language, and the garbage collector affect performance. He also considers C# data types, including arrays and matrices, along with other language features that play an important role in scientific computing applications.

SENS: System Event Notification Services and WMI Enable Flexible, Efficient Mobile Network Computing

Networked applications must deal with a host of connection problems ranging from timeouts to congestion to unavailability. If these applications can check the current connection status and, when disconnected, cache transmissions, they become more efficient. Fortunately, both the System Event Notification System (SENS) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) can send notifications to keep applications informed of network status. In this article, the author explains the use of several SENS interfaces, including ISensNetwork and ISensLogon, which trigger events for connects/disconnects and logons/logoffs, respectively. The author then shows how you can subscribe to each of these events, and follows with a discussion of when you might use WMI events instead.

Property of a base UserControl it's not handled correctly

Hello,I have a class that is a base class for my server controls. Inside this class I have a property that can take values from an enumeration.public enum PanelModeEnum { Add = 1, Edit = 2, ReadOnly = 3 } public class BaseControl : System.Web.UI.UserControl { #region Event Handling Management #endregion public PanelModeEnum PanelMode { get; set; } public virtual void ChangePanelMode(PanelModeEnum newMode) { this.PanelMode = newMode; } } I have then several user controls that inherits from this BaseControl and that I add into aspx pages declaratively<gsl:PhoneNumberUC ID="ucPhoneDetail" runat="server" PhoneNumberType="Home" />I would like to show one the derived BaseControl classes inside a ModalPopupExtender using server-side code. Before doing this I call the ChangePanelMode with a value from the PanelModeEnumucPhoneDetail.PhoneNumberType = ptype; ucPhoneDetail.ChangePanelMode(PanelModeEnum.Add); this.mpePopupPhone.Show(); But when, inside the inherited user control I check for the PanelMode property likeif (this.PanelMode == PanelModeEnum.Add) { ... } the value of this.PanelMode is always equal to zero. Why?Kindly regards

My repeating table did not open/load correctly

In my browser-enabled form I am using a webservice to get data from one look up table in my database. The table consists of two columns (ProdId and ProdDescription). In order to allow the user to select more than one products, I bind  this data to a repeating table where the productId column converted from a check box to a checkbox instead. So every row of this repeating table have a checkbox in the first column so the user can make selection and a textbox in the second column to list the Product Description. When the user open/load the existing form where multiple selection was made to the repeating table none of the checkboxs were checked. I have no idea how to go about to fix this issue and i can use some help. So far i have not use any codes for my form so i would like to stay codeless and using rules instead. Thank you in advance.

Microsoft ListView Control 6.0 cannot correctly display multibyte characters when running on a 64 bi

With all the regional settings set to Russian and the OS being Russion the ListView Control 6.0 does not display the column headers correctly on the Windows Server 2008 64 bit OS. If we switch to using Microsoft ListView Control, version 5 the columns (text strings) are displayed correctly. I am concerned that using an earlier version is going to cause problems. Is there a better solution other than using version 5? Thanks!

Count of fact rows not being displayed correctly

I have the most generic measure - count of rows from the fact table. When I query the underlying fact table, example...select count(Primary_key) , I get accurate results. Also, I see my partition has exact same count for the rows. But, when I process the cube and view the same measure in the browser it shows less than the actual count . I never had this problem before. What could I be missing? I would appreciate your suggestions.   Rok

T-SQL linear regression in multiple dimensions

Hi! I'm trying to make linear regression T-SQL in multiple dimensions  (y = a + a1*x1+ ... a2*xn) like LINEST function in Excel.I need create a similar stored procedure in SQL Server.I also created the code using the article http://charlottecredittechnology.blogspot.com/2008/11/sql-2008-excel-like-linest-function.html but i have troubles in re-adapt to a model with multiple dimensions...thanks!

Trouble getting my back/forward buttons to work correctly

My program has 4 pages that have session variables on each page and they are retrieved on the 4th and final page then submitted to a database when the submit button is clicked. When i was testing my program i filled out all 4 pages and then clicked back to refill-in something on a previous page and all my information wasn't filled out anymore. So i added the code in the page load sub btnBack.Attributes.Add("onClick", "javascript:history.back(); return false;") and this cured that problem so i could click back and the data would still be filled out. Then i saw a new problem....after i went back to fix something on previous pages 1 and 2, i would click the next button to go forward to pages 3 and 4 that i've already started filling out and now the data on those pages were cleared. So how do i make it so that the information from the whole program stays filled out whether i go back and forth from the 1st page to the 4th until i click submit on the 4th page? I have searched everywhere on the internet and cannot find a solution
