2008 R2 GroupsBeforeRowHeaders as an expression

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hi there Is it possible to set this value dynamically as an expression? I have a table that needs to appear differenty depending on what 'side' of a sheet of a document it is on, and so toggling the row headers from 'left' to 'right' (by manipulating this integer value) would be of great benefit. Or indeed any workarounds that would save me making two versions of this tablix Many thanks

Checking weather a chart is hidden or displayd by using an Expression (SSRS 2008)

Hello, I want to check weather a chart is hidden or displayd by using the Expression of a Text Box that toggles display of that chart. Therefore I need to call the chart in the Expression. Something like this: =IIF(ReportItems!Chart2.Hidden = False ... But obviously charts are not regarded as report items by ssrs!?!? Thanks Axel

how to use split in iif conditional expression in ssrs 2008 r2

how can i use conditional iif combined with split?

i'm trying to get values from check boxes(from sharepoint custom list), the condition is like this :

if the value is null/blank, the return value would be "-"

if the value is not blank, the return value would be the value of the check box field that already splitted from the ";#" character

as you might know, values from check box is written along with ";#" character before and after the value itself.

i tried to use this expression:

=IIF(Fields!Action__For_User_Access_.Value Is Nothing," - ",(Split(Fields!Action__For_User_Access_.Value, ";#")(1)))

the split worked just fine, but the conditional iif didn't work.

can anybody help me?

i used that expression in the calculated field.

btw, i'm using report builder content type from ssrs 2008 r2

thx in advance.

SSRS 2008 R2 - Line chart labels - visibility based on expression?

I would like to control the visibility of a data label in a line chart using an expression. For example, I have a requirement to show the data label for two compariable data points in a line chart where the horizontal axis is time (Q1, Q2, Q3, etc...) and the data points are determined based on a selected parameter. The basic idea is that a user can select to view Q3 as the end point of reporting and the chart will graph a complete time line (e.g. FY 2001 thru FYXX Q3) but only show the label for Q3 and prior year Q3.

I have tried to build an expression in the visibility property of 'Chart Series Labels' but this does not appear to work.

Writeback expression question - Weighted Allocation (SSAS 2008 SP2)

I'm trying to nail down the behaviour of writeback.

The Expression needs to change depending on how the value should be allocated.

E.g. If I want to spread a value to the leaf level funds then:

[Fund.Currentmember, Measures.Value] / [Fund.All, Measures.Value]

I've noticed that the expression should cater for each dimension that needs to be spread.

So if it is by fund, and by product then it should have:

[Fund.Currentmember, Product.CurrentMember, Measures.Value]

[Fund.All, Product.All, Measures.Value]

I've also found that if I need to allocate a value to an actual leaf level value, then the denominator should also carry a current member for that dimension. (I don't want to divide the value of the current member by the all level)

Eg. If I want to capture a value against a particular fund, then the weighted expression would look like this:

[Fund.Currentmember, Product.CurrentMember, Measures.Value]

[Fund.Currentmember, Product.All, Measures.Value]

What I'm trying to figure out is this:

What if I want to spread a value by a grouping attribute?

Example, if there was a Fund Group attribute that held multipl

Using Conditional Split data Transfer in SSIS 2008

This article uses the Integration Services Conditional Split Data Transformation element to filter and transfer data from a set of flat text files to SQL Server database table. The concept can be easily extended to apply to any other source or destination such as Microsoft Excel. This scenario is useful in creating denormalized database tables in a reporting and analysis situation.

Seven reasons to care about SQL Server 2008 R2

Microsoft begins to fully realize its vision of SQL Server as an information platform and not "just" a database. Hence the main theme for this release -- at least according to Microsoft -- is self-service BI. The PowerPivot plug-ins for Excel 2010 and SharePoint 2010 are easily going to make the biggest splash of all the new features, not least because they're the most complete. But then, SQL Server 2008 R2 isn't strictly necessary for PowerPivot for Excel, which works with plenty of other data sources.

Building Re-Usable ASP.NET User Control and Page Libraries with VS 2008

I am having problems with a user control. I want my solution to have a separate project for holding my user controls.

The main project can get a reference to this user control project and can import this user control dll into my main project.

Installing both VS Pro 2008 and VWD2008

I work at an educational institution and in our computing labs we have Visual Studio Professional 2008 installed already. One of our academics has requested me to install Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition as they think it's easier for their beginner students to learn, but I've noticed it wants to install it in the same folder as our Visual Studio Professional install.

Can both be installed without the limited VWD interfering with the Professional version?
