Adding functionality to the Toolkit Calendar Extender

Folks, I have not yet done a deep dive into the Toolkit code.  I need to try and make a couple of changes to the Calendar. The first one feels like an "it can't only be me that needs this" problem.  I have EarliestDate and LatestDate parameters floating around.  The requirement is to prevent the user clicking (ie they display as text rather than hyperlinks) any dates which fall outside of the two date limits.  An extension of that (not essential, more of a luxury) would be to prevent the user moving to months or years where the dates within that month/year are completely outside of the allowable range. The second one relates to when the initial view of the Calendar is Years.  I need to either be able to specify that the initial display starts for a given historical year (without showing that year in the textbox); or [better] to be able to squeeze a larger number of years onto the display, so that the user can move back a greater number of years with fewer clicks. I hope the questions make sense - all pointers welcome. Thanks,  Nick.

WPF Toolkit Calendar, Blackout Dates, DataTemplate, Binding, MVVM

I am building an application using the MVVM model and I'd like to bind a calendar's "BlackoutDates" collection. I found this interesting piece of code which shows how to achieve this binding through an Attached Property. I am using the WPF ToolKit at codeplex.

However as I understand it, I need to bind to a "CalendarBlackoutDatesCollection" property. Ideally, this property would be in my ViewModel so that i can use {Binding BlackoutDates} however, the constructor for CalendarBlackoutDatesCollection has to specify the "owner", or the calendar that will receive this collection, which my ViewModel doesn't know about.

The calendar is actually part of a DataTemplate so I can't just name it and reference it directly. I'm saying this because I tried a workaround solution through events in the code behind file. The simplest of my scenario involves 2 calendars in the same data item (a "from" and a "to" calendar). When the user clicks on a "From" date, then all prior dates are blacked out in the "To" calendar to prevent the user from entering a time range backwards. The same applies if a user selects a "To" date - anything after that

Fly-out menu and Calendar Web Part conflict

On my Top Links Navigation Bar, I have a fly-out menu implemented through Javascript. However, I have an issue. On pages containing Calendar Web part, the "Pull Down / Fly-out" does not work. I am not sure what is the conflict with Calendar Web Part.

Here is my code.

var titleTabName = $(this).attr("ows_Title");
var urlTab = $(this).attr("ows_Tab_x0020_Link").split(',');
var titleTabID = 'topNav' + titleTabName.replace(/[-' ']/g,'');
var showTabAppend = titleTabID + 'Append';

var urlTabShow = 'href=' + urlTab[0];
var pulldownClass = 'dynamic-children';
var pulldown = '<ul class="dynamic '+ showTabAppend +'" style="" id=""></ul>';

var tableRow = '<li class="static '+ pulldownClass +'"><a '+ urlTabShow +' class="static '+ pulldownClass +' menu-item"><span class="additional-background"><span class="menu-item-text">'+ titleTabName +'</span></span></a>'+ pulldown +'</li>';

Building a grouping Grid with GridView and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit CollapsiblePanel

I've posted an update to this post to apply on demand loading of Details data using ASP.NET AJAX PageMethods. I'm demonstrating the usage if CollapsiblePanelExtender client events on the new post. Check it out.

I admit, Matt Berseth is really inspiring me! Few days ago I pass through 2 of his great posts:

.Surrounding your Data Table and Dialog Controls with ComponentArt Styled Panels
.Building a Grouping Grid with the ASP.NET 3.5 LinqDataSource and ListView Controls
The first one is pure design tips one which I used for making good presentation of my demo here. The 2nd post is actually the idea.

5 GridView Themes Based on Google's Personalized Homepage (igoogle)

One of the silly features I have found that I like about igoogle is how the pages color palette changes depending upon the time of day. So as the day progresses from morning to afternoon to evening the colors on the page change as well. Like I said, I know this is a silly feature, but I like it. And I have asked around a little bit and seems like other people like it to. To get a better idea of how the colors change, here are the background images from a few of the HTML elements.

Using the WPF Toolkit DataGrid

WPF comes with a large number of built in controls, but from the beginning it has lacked something that many application developers find extremely important - a DataGrid. You can use the ListView to create something approximating a DataGrid

Reuse a gridview within calendar control

Hello, I have a calendar control that will have events displayed within each cell.

I want to use a pre formatted gridview and simply bind the gridview with a dataset dynamically and display it within the cell of the specified day.

Is there a way to do that or do I have to dynamically build a gridview for every day that there is an event?

So here is the template gridview and datasource:

 <asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlcalitemtemp" runat="server"
        ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:NNTrainingdbconnection %>"
        SelectCommand="SELECT NN_Fire_Events.Start_Time, NN_Fire_Events.End_Time, tblNN_Fire_Cli

VWDE 2010 Won't Install Ajax Control Toolkit on XP Pro

To my displeasure I cannot find VWD2005 which at one time would generate a complete web.config for Ajax so I downloaded and installed VWDE 2010 to a clean install of XP Pro.

I've created a new tab on the toolbar for the controls but after I select the Ajax dll to add the controls to the toolbar it grinds away and then goes poof and closes down the task leaving VWD look as if I had never even created the tab in the toolbar.

Any advice here?
