My profile -- Tags and Notes tab

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi, In my profile of the SP site, there is a tab called "Tags and Notes", and the aspx is coming from _layouts/thoughts.aspx Since I want to customize it, I copied over to my profile site. And it looks perfectly fine when I am viewing it via SPD, But  when I preview it in browser, I got an error Correlation ID: a8eea084-4910-40c1-85e0-4f29863fa648 Is that a permission issue or some other files are needed to be copied over to my profile site? Please advice, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Profile page throwing an error after adding some "ask me about" tags

After adding some "ask me about" tags my profile page is throwing an error. To be more precise the AskMeAbout WebPart ist throwing a thread aborted exception and I don't understand the reason for this error. After removing the tags the sites works again. Some tags work but after trying some other tags the profile page is broken again. Unhandled exception caught during execution of Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.PageBase::ErrorHandler(). 'I Like it' and 'Tags & Notes' Grayed out

Can someone tell me what features/functions have to be activated in a site or document library or installed on the machine for "I like it" and "Tags and Notes" to function?

Thanks

Profile showing differently when viewed by the owner and colleague. Tags are not showing

Hi, I need some assistance here...

http://community.sgdotnet.org/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Components.PostAttachments/00.00.22.66.66/Viewing-my-own-profile.png

The first screen shot is actually the owner of the profile view her profile as seen by her colleagues. She has updated her profile, and has tag some web pages, as seen in her recent activities.

But when the same profile is viewed by her colleague, as seen in this link,

http://community.sgdotnet.org/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Components.PostAttachments/00.00.22.66.67/Viewing-other-profile.png

The tags does not show. Note that those tags are not private, and I am not aware of any security settings that can be set against tags. Anyone have any idea how to solve this?

Limit of notes displayed in My profile

Hi,

I wonder if there is a limit on the number of notes that will be displayed under my profile's overview tab. Seems like I can only see 20 notes and I don't see any more note posted before the date of my 20th note. Can I reset the limit?

Thanks in advance.

Tags, Notes and I Like it not appearing in mysites

I can see these icons on my other site collections, but no on my mysites pages.  How do I enable them?

Code Optimized Web Development Profile (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

When you first run VS 2010 it prompts you to select an IDE profile to use. The profile you select will configure how tool windows are displayed/docked in the IDE by default and set the default keyboard shortcuts. You can then customize any of these settings by using the Tools->Options menu within the IDE and then override/change them. You can also later reset your profile and pick a different one by choosing the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.

Configuring Profile Image Export in SharePoint 2010

It's no secret that I am thrilled with the new social features of SharePoint 2010. I am most excited about the new Profile Picture handling. I strongly believe that the more we can show the faces of our colleagues to one another the more connected we will feel. Clearly Microsoft feels that way as witnessed by the many features that make use of the Profile Image like the Activity Feed and Colleagues list

Rendering data with HTML tags in the DD Gridview for a selected column

I am having trouble finding out where and how to HTML Encode a cell's data on the Dynamic Data (v4.0) gridview of List.aspx.  As a simple case, suppose I have formatted cell data that is A<br/>B in the DB.    Obviously, I want A stacked on B in the cell.

It seems gridView1.HtmlEncode = true has gone away.

So maybe I'll try to catch it on the RowDataBound event:

protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(Object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)

        {
            if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
            {
                // Html Encode the cells
            }

        }

but this event never fires?

Has anyone figured out how to properly render HTML tags data in the List.aspx's GridView1?

If I figure this out, then I can add a MetaAttribute called something like [EncodeAsHtml(true)] and be on my way.  Thanks!

Profile not being save after redirect.

Hello,

I am trying to save values into a Profile on Page1, then redirect to Page2 and access those values.  However, after the page redirects the profile values are blank as if they were never saved.   When stepping through the code I can see that they are being save on Page 1.

I suppose I could use session variables to store the information but I don't understand why saving the profile doesn't work.

//Page1
private void PayWithPayPal()
    {
        ProfileCommon profile = this.Profile;

        if (Global.CurrentUserName.Length > 0)
            profile = this.Profile.GetProfile(Global.CurrentUserName);

        profile.FirstName = uxFirstNameShipping.Text;
        profile.LastName = uxLastNameBilling.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.AddressLineOne = uxAddressLineOneShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.AddressLineTwo = uxAddressLineTwoShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.City = uxCityShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.State = uxStateShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.ZipCode = uxPostalCodeShipping.Text;

        profile.Save();

    }

I had a code snippett from a book for how to do this but when it runs it says its processing a request that will never finish.
