ASP.NET Connection to SSRS RDL

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I'm trying to connect to an SSRS RDL for the first time in a hosted environment. I have specified the URL as required by the host:   ReportViewer1.ProcessingMode = ProcessingMode.Remote; ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new Uri("https://reportserverurl/"); ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportPath = "ReportName";   How do I provide username/password to the above?

A connection could not be made to the report server - Problem deploying an SSRS report from Business

I’m having trouble with what seems to be a common issue for people, regarding deployment of an SSRS report from Business Intelligence Development Studio. Unfortunately none of the solution I have seen posted here (and elsewhere) have been able to help me so far.   Two of my collegaues can both deploy with no problem, and I am using exactly the same Target destinations as them (TargetDataSourceFolder, TargetReportFolder, TargetServerURL).   I have posted the error message below, which from my basic understaning would indicate, I think, a security issue (perhaps something local to my PC, or user account)   Has anyone experienced this particular issue who might be able to help?   Best wishes, Jamie TITLE: Microsoft Report Designer ------------------------------ A connection could not be made to the report server http://turpin-net.turpin-bg.local/Reportserver. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'. Cannot create a connection to data source !!!! SSRS 2005

I cannot get this error resolve either for myself or any users, and I'm actually part of the Admin group!  Furthermore, a user with whom I'm tring allow to view this report keeps getting prompted for their windows username and password.  I thought that since this datasource was set to Windows Authentification that it would just pass it through? I'm pulling my hair out at this point: Screen Shots: http://www.webfound.net/datasource_connection.jpg http://www.webfound.net/datasource_connection2.jpg http://www.webfound.net/datasource_connection3.jpg Also As far as I know, I've given sufficient permissions to the right logins and right users on my SQL Databases and related stored procs that the datasets (not datasource) run An error has occurred during report processing. SSRS 2008 Connection properties

Hi there.

Got a problem with the Connection Properties.

If I change something and start the Report everytime is an error that the Connection propertie is empty and I just delete this.

Also is a missing Dateprovider.

Dunno how to change that this not happens again and again.

Anyone knows how to change?

VPN Connection Causes Errors In SSRS Authentication

Hi all,

My web app uses SQL 2008 Express on the same machine as the web application. My calls to SSRS are local only, made to localhost, port 8080. Everything works fine on my development machine, except when I log in to VPN with one of my customers. Then suddenly, calls to the report server on my local machine return 401 Authentication Errors. If I log off VPN, everything works again.

Can anyone explain what happens to my credentials when I log in to VPN? I'm trying to understand why it happens, in case it is something I need to be aware of downstream. I am using SQL Server Authentication to access the database.

Thanks!

Michael

SSRS 2008: connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDat

Hi,

I have started getting this error since a week now when I try to schedule a report or change a schedule of a report.

An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError) Get Online Help For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors

We have SQL Server 2008 installed along with SSRS running on the server. I have never seen this happening before for almost a year now but suddenly it appeared.  Along with this, report subscription is also messed up and some report are not been emailed as they have a error like:

Failure sending mail: An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database.Mail will not be resent.

I am not sure what caused this but if anyone has any idea of what is going on it will be great.

Thanks you for your help.

Please reply soooon !!!

data connections in data connection libraries as consumed by Report Builder and SSRS

A data connection to a SQL DB is created and published to a data connection library in SharePoint 2010.  When Report builder or SSRS consume this connection, does the actual network connection happen between the SP server and the DB or the client machine and the DB?  And is this different based on whether you use SSRS or Report Builder?

The reason for the question is that the firewall is open between the SP farm and the DB but NOT between the client machine and the DB and I'm trying to figure out if this will be a problem or not.

Additional clarifications that may be helpful.  SSRS (SQL 2008 R2) is in SharePoint integrated mode and we are specifically talking about rsds files.

SQL Connection String

We can learn or know how can we connect the database from our .net. This will help for freshers or .NET beginners!

abstract away the source of the connection string using a class with a static property.

ASP.NET provides a configuration system we can use to keep our applications flexible at runtime. In this article we will examine some tips and best practices for using the configuration system for the best results.

The element of a web.config file is a place to store connection strings, server names, file paths, and other miscellaneous settings needed by an application to perform work. The items inside appSettings are items that need to be configurable depending upon the environment, for instance, any database connection strings will change as you move your application from a testing and staging server into production.

Encapsulation
Let's abstract away the source of the connection string using a class with a static property.

connection string question from a newbie

when publishing  in the webmatrix dialogue it asks for "destination connection string" for my "database.mdf"

I was not sure what it was so I pasted this from my web.config file :

Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\database.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True

it all published ok, but wont run, so I guess it has somthing to do with this connection string or some kind of configuration issue.

My question is this, What should go in the field for "Destination connection string"

connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly.

I dont have the SQL EXPRESS installed instead I have SQL Standard Edition.

I have two SQL Server instances installed.

1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)
2- UserLT\SQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)

But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:

Connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=4925

I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)

and changed the "SQLEXPRESS" to "USERLT\SQL2005".

But I still get the same error message. Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?
