C# and XML Source Code Documentation

Through many years of enterprise level software development and consulting, I became critically aware of the importance of good source code documentation, and several years ago when I began working with the first release of Visual Studio .NET beta 1 and found C# provided built-in support for inline XML code documentation, I was thrilled.

Html.PageLink not resolving ... any documentation?

Downloaded the code from here:

The Register.cshtml is having commented code which enables sending email to users for email verification.

This is the link not getting resolved properly in the email:

var confirmationLink = Html.PageLink("~\\Account\\Confirm", "click to Ccnfirm your Account.", new {token = token});

Mail.Send(email, "Confirm Your Security Demo Account", confirmationLink.ToString());

It is opening something like this: http://confirm/?token=tR9nWxnBPN34Kag

Note: I get the email but the link is not resolved properly.

Just for workaround and testing I did this and it worked:

var confirmationLink = "<a href='http://localhost:50620/Account/Confirm.cshtml?token=" + token.ToString() +"'> Please Confirm Your Account </a>";

If anyone can share some light on this Html.PageLink method and why is it not working?<

Documentation best practices (VB)

I need some suggestions on where to start learning best practices for documenting VB.Net projects. I'm lacking in knowledge on this subject matter, but I'm not having much luck finding quite what I need to know via Google.

Email Help (System.Net.Mail)

Hi I have a annoying problem.
I have created a page which takes users details for a quote.

I have then created the form to be emailed to both the user and myself. (Which works fine ATM)

However I would also like to be able to attach a file containing terms and conditions to the email.

I have tried doing this using

EmailMsg.Attachments.Add(new Attachment("C:\\attachme.txt"));

But everytime that line of code is hit it fails and is caught by my try catch.

Take that line out and the email sends fine, put it in and it breaks the whole page.

Am I missing something really obvious?

C#: XML Comments Let You Build Documentation Directly From Your Visual Studio .NET Source Files

C# allows developers to embed XML comments into their source files-a useful facility, especially when more than one programmer is working on the same code. The C# parser can expand these XML tags to provide additional information and export them to an external document for further processing. This article shows how to use XML comments and explains the relevant tags. The author demonstrates how to set up your project to export your XML comments into convenient documentation for the benefit of other developers. He also shows how to use comments to generate help files.

SQL and Outlook: Enable Database Access and Updates Through Exchange and Any E-mail Client

Using Microsoft technologies, you can insert, edit, query, and delete database entries using any e-mail client such as Hotmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or even WAP phone. While e-mail is certainly a powerful and widely used tool, it is usually not integrated with an application for performing any tasks other than sending reminders. The application scenario described here, an e-mail-based SQL update program, uses a simple data model; however, this solution will apply to any data model that you are working with. It will also eliminate the need for complex n-tier Internet applications and serves as a low maintenance solution for providing data access.

        message.Body = "Just Testing"

        Dim smtp As System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient = New System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient()

How to send mail to individual users.

  I need to send the same mail to multiple users separately. I dont want to use comma delimeted "To Address" . Because other users can able to see the recipients.

   Each recipient should not know about the other recipients.

   How will I achieve this one without for loop ?

Can we edit default mail format?

I have created a Sharepoint Designerworkflow, which gets initiated when a document is uploaded in document library.

I want to know that can we change the content of default mail.
