VS2008: Struggeling with includes

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hello everbody.We've currently migrated our Classic ASP web to ASP.NET. Our greatest hope lies in using the Visual Studio for debugging. But this hope was destroyed devastatingly.There are lot of issues we encountered:No syntax highlightingNo breakpoints (message: "This is not a valid location for a breakpoint.")No IntellisenseWe cannot say find the reasons. But we think VS can't resolve our include links correctly. (In our case we remove all inludes and the page was highlighted again.)That's why we have a lot of questions: Can VS2008 handle includes (<!-- #include file="myinclude.inc" -->) at all? Are there any constraints we need to know? Maximal lines to include? Including <% .. %> or <script language="vb" runat="server"> .. </script>? What settings have to be made? Thank you very muchMarcel

web deployment project (WS_deploy) on VS2008

I am building a asp.net webservice in VS2008 and the web service compiles and debug fine. The project should be using : Net 3,5

 I have

  1. VS2005 and VS208 installed
  2. .Net 1.1 - 3.5
  3. WebDeploymentSetup for VS2008 (and most likely a version for VS2005 as well)

But when I add a web deployment project the fun stops. The .WS_deploy project will not compile and I cannot find any precompiled output.

Migration to .Net 2 and includes

I'm currently having a problem with one of our old .Net 1.1 applications. For generating the user interface, a lot of incude statements were used.

<!--#include file="includes/header.aspx"-->

In these includes, the variables from the parent files are used.

Now I have to use at least .Net 2 and Visual Studio 2010. The problem is that VS tries to compile these include files, which of course failes.

Is there any way to restore the old behavior again?

Team System - VS2008 -- Performance testing statistics

Dear all,

"The base class includes the field 'WebUserControl1', but its type (common_WebUserControl) is not

I tried to convert a project from ASP.NET 1.1 to 2.0 and found one big problem which stops the whole process.

An .aspx page from the subfolder "admin" includes a user control from the subfolder "common". Both subfolders ("admin" and "common" are in the root).

- admin
-- aspx page
- common
-- user control

The page works well when started from Visual Studio, but when the project is precompiled for deployment, the next error occurs:

"The base class includes the field 'WebUserControl1', but its type (common_WebUserControl) is not compatible with the type of control (ASP.common_webusercontrol_ascx)"

I tried to use "Reference" in the .aspx page, but that doesn't work.

Does anybody know any workaround for this?

[VS2008] Designer's display problem

Hello, I created a solution with multi-project and i've recently added some resources files to lacalized my application and of course my XAML files too. I used the "How To:" http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dd882554(v=VS.95).asp I inserted the class LocalizedString in one off my project that I use as library for common actions. But since, my designer is not loading properly because it can't find this class while I precised the good assembly and that the application is running properly with resources applied. It's then not handy to develop an HMI... If anybody has an idea about this trouble... Of course I tried dozens of times to clear the projects and regenerate without success. Thank you for your help !

VS2010: Upgrading projects from VS2008

I just upgraded my VS2008 solution to VS2010 and have run into a problem. I have a .NET C# application that references a managed C++ DLL, which in turn links to a native static library. All this works just fine. However, whenever I attempt to run the C# application, Visual Studio claims that the native static library is out of date and must be recompiled. It does that even after I've just compiled the native library. When allowing VS2010 to build the native project, the only thing it does is this: 1>  LibraryName.vcxproj -> C:\Bleh\Blah\LibraryName.lib Is there a way I can figure out what's causing VS2010 to think the project is out of date?

VS2008 BIDS Report export to Excel not grouping the same as VS2005

I have a report that I created in VS2005 BIDS and got it to export to Excel to group/subtotal the same way it does in the BIDS report window.  Now I have copied the .rdl files to a VS2008 project, open it in VS2008 BIDS, made NO changes to the report format and the exported Excel file is combining what should be the 2nd and 3rd groups into 1 group.  In the BIDS window, the grouping is working correctly.  Does anyone have any ideas what has changed between 2005 & 2008 that may cause this problem?  Thanks in advance.

We have the following query:   SELECT H.VEHICLE_ID,                 COUNT(ISNULL(H.HISTORY_ID, 0))            FROM VEHICLES V LEFT OUTER JOIN VEHICLE_HISTORY H              ON V.VEHICLE_ID = H.VEHICLE_ID           WHERE H.SPEED >= 65             AND CONVERT(DATE, H.GPS_TIME) = CONVERT(DATE, DATEADD(DAY, -1, GETDATE()))        GROUP BY H.VEHICLE_ID;   Unfortunately, if there inst a record for a vehicle for the current day in VEHICLE_HISTORY, or there inst a record over 65 in VEHICLE_HISTORY, the query simply does not include the result. How can we include all results (i.e. return 0)? What we want is the number of rows returned to match the number of rows in the vehicles table. I thought doing the LEFT OUTER JOIN would take care of this, and return a result for all vehicles.   Thanks.

VS2008 and C#: How to create PictureBox controls programmatically in a FlowLayoutPanel ?

I am trying to create multiple PictureBox controls in a FlowLayoutPanel programmatically. The number of the PictureBox controls is dynamic depending on the target image folder. My current approach results a compilation error:             // (Works !)             pictureBox1 = new System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox();             pictureBox1.Width = 150;             pictureBox1.Height = 150;             flowLayoutPanel.Controls.Add(pictureBox1);             string sFileFullName = "Resources\\file1.bmp";             pictureBox1.Image = Image.FromFile(@sFileFullName);             // (Error !)             string pbName = "pictureBox";             for (int i = 0; i < 100; i++)             {

Hi guys,we're looking to implement a code coverage solution in our website. but we're limited because we *need* to stick to Vs2008 without any other tool or addon, its quite strict.anyway, ive found that it can be done but it doesn't seem to be working for websites ? and i mean, "not web applications". ive tried to start the code coverage monitor but without any dll to watch its hard to start it. or am i missing something ? VS2008 SQL Statement

Are we entering the correct SQL Statement in both VS2008 and Web Hosting Account (View snapshots at http://cforedu.com/snap.pdf) to match with the SQL Statement found in the following C# code (i.e., SqlDbType = SqlDbType.Int):  protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["sqlapplicationConnectionString"].ToString()); try { SqlCommand cmd = conn.CreateCommand(); cmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO Application (" + " First, Last, City, State" + ") VALUES (" + " @First, @Last, @City, @State"; cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter() { ParameterName = "@First", SqlDbType = SqlDbType.Int, Value = Convert.ToInt32(Request["First"]) }); cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter() { ParameterName = "@Last", SqlDbType = SqlDbType.Int, Value = Convert.ToInt32(Request["Last"]) }); cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter() { ParameterName = "@City",

What version of VSExtensions for WSS is needed if our dev environment is changing from VS2008 to VS2

We currently are using VS2008 with WSS3.0 SP2 and the VSE1.2 installed. We will be converting to VS2010 in the next couple of days, so my question is -- do we still need to install WSS3.0 SP2 and VSeWSSv1.2?  My guess is that we would still need to install WSS3.0 SP2, but not sure about the VSeWSSv1.2... Any guidance would be much appreciated.
