Dynamic Buttons in ASP.NET

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi all, I am trying to create buttons dynamically and place them in an exact place within a page.  Example: Create a button like this:  <asp:Button ID="CreateSingleResume" runat="server"   onclick="CreateSingleResume_Click" Text="CREATE RESUME" BorderStyle="Ridge"   Font-Bold="True" Font-Size="X-Large" Height="65px" Width="600px" /> Event Handler:     protected void CreateSingleResume_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)     {       /./ some code here..         // Create the Resume         BuildResume(UserID);     }  Building a stringbuilder:         strSelectUserListBuilder.Append("<tr>" + strNL.ToString());         strSelectUserListBuilder.Append("<td>" + strNL.ToString());         strSelectUserListBuilder.Append("<p align='center'><img border='0' src='images/ResumeBottomBorder.jpg' width='600' height='10'>" + strNL.ToString());         strSelectUserListBuilder.Append("</td>" + strNL.ToString());

Dynamic Image Buttons in GridView not doing partial post back

Hi Gurus - Create a gridview with AllowPaging and AllowSorting = true- On page load, I bind it to datasource (in my case a webservice) - On gridview's rowcreated event, I dynamically add image buttons on the header of the grid for sorting (up/down arrows). On header I have column name and the image. I removed the Column name default sorting link. So user can now only click the image button for sorting.-  Call sorting method This works perfectly fine without AJAX. The paging, sorting works fine. Also when I apply AJAX the paging works fine. But the sorting is doing a full post back instead of partial postback. I have my gridview within UpdatePanel and Triggeres is set on gridview sill it doesn't work.ASPX Code<form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" /> <div> <asp:Label ID="lblAccount" runat="server" Text="Account #: "></asp:Label> <asp:TextBox ID="txtAccountNumber" runat="server">12203A30</asp:TextBox> <asp:Button ID="cmdGo" runat="server" Text="Go" OnClick="cmdGo_Click" /><br /> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server"> &l

Dynamic buttons

I'm trying to add buttons to a view based on if/then logic.  Here is the basics of what i'm trying to accomplish.  I have no idea where to start.  Any ideas?

if (x == 1)

Add 1 Button

return View(1 Button);

if (x ==2)

Add 2 Buttons

Return View(2 Buttons);

return View();

Dynamic Buttons on Table

I'm trying to create a list (customized table) with data pulled from the database and display it to the user in a format that looks very much like a forum thread and replies or posts.

Which each of these "posts" I require to have buttons specific to that particular column to edit, delete etc.

How do I create buttons on the fly and associate an event handler (button clicked) method with it?

Thanks in Advance,

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

Dynamic Data Templates in GridView ASP.NET 3.5

At a high level, Dynamic Data Templates can be seen as a system to very quickly build up a User Interface linked with the relevant data model, immediately enabling you to perform CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) on the database using the specified data source. They provide a powerful method for building up these kinds of applications, and I'm going to focus on an overview of what Dynamic Data Templates actually are, and a few ways of customizing them to suit industry needs.

ASP.NET 4.0 Dynamic Data and Many to Many Entity Framework Entities

I did not play much with Dynamic Data controls in VS2008 and just made a cool discovery in VS2010 Beta 2. This may not even be new, but as I'm sitting 30,000+ feet over the Atlantic ocean, I don't have access to VS2008 at the moment to check.

Gridview with Radio Buttons

As now, Radio buttons are HTML controls, I am not able to get it on server side. When user select any radio button and press submit, Control will not available at code behind, you can use "e.Item.FindControl" as it is not "runat='server'". I want ID "Primary Key" value for selected radio button. To achive this I took the help of Javascript. I wrote javascript function that sets the values of "Primary Key" in hidden field when user clicks on any radio button. Now when user clicks on Submit button, user can get selected value froim hidden field.

Dynamic Systems Development Model (DSDM) Methodology

The Dynamic Systems Development Model was developed in the U.K. in the mid-1990s. It is the evolution of rapid application development (RAD) practices. DSDM boasts the best-supported training and documentation of any of the agile software development techniques, at least in Europe. DSDM favors the philosophy that nothing is built perfectly the first time and looks to software development as an exploratory endeavor.

Adding Dynamic Rows in GridView with TextBoxes

I decided to write this article because this has been asked so many times before at the forums(http://forums.asp.net) . Basically, this example shows on how to generate a Row in GridView with TextBoxes when clicking a Button that is residing inside a GridView Footer.

Adding Dynamic Rows in GridView with TextBoxex in C#

What is the difference between "dynamic" and "object" keywords?

Let's take a quick look at the object keyword first. I'm not going to talk a lot about it because it's been around since C# 1.0. This keyword is nothing more than a shortcut for System.Object, which is the root type in the C# class hierarchy. (However, as Eric Lippert pointed out in his blog post, not everything in C# derives from object.) This is a powerful mechanism, since you can assign almost any value to instances of this type.

Dynamic in C# 4.0: Introducing the ExpandoObject

You have probably already heard about the new dynamic feature in C# 4.0 and how it is used to support COM interop. If you haven't, I strongly recommend reading the following MSDN articles: Using Type dynamic and How to: Access Office Interop Objects by Using Visual C# 2010 Features.

Dear gentlemen and ladies of the Microsoft Dynamic Data Team,

Mr. Steve Naughton says (and I hope so) that there might be chances that you read the posts published in this forum: I really hope so.

If that were the case then I am formally requesting to you in providing a "real answer" to my question:

I want to customize a dynamic data page (the details one) so I can have access to the data it has been already gathered from the end user UI (details.aspx) and use it to pass this same data to the following controls/pages that I am going to display next time to the end user.

For instance:

I have a screen with different types of data in it: texts, numbers, dates, check boxes, radio buttons and dropdownlists that has been filled with data by the end user. I want now to reset all fields exept the dropdownlist of which I'd like to keep the previously chosen values(the very same thing you do between dropdownlist of List.aspx ad Details.aspx). Even with FoxPro I could do that because data and controls were available there. It was as simple as setting carrying on to true.

Dynamic page customization in WebForms

I am developing an ASP.NET Webforms application for job advertisements. The application is hosted on my own server and enables registrated users to publish job advertisements with the possibility to submit job applications directly from web. The application essentially consists of two parts: job advertisements and job applications sub-apps.

The job advertisement application uses RESTful approach, implemented as ASP.NET routing and makes no use of different state variables (like viewstate). I provide custom layout of job advertisement webpage for every client using XML serialization of my internal JobOffer class and using XML ASP.NET control with custom XSLT transformation sheet plus CSS to render the custom design. It is all fine and works perfectly.

The second (job applications) part provides users with a custom webform, which is partically dependent upon the original advertisement (regarding the minimal education level, eligible citizenship or work permissions, licences etc.) and can be tweacked using custom CSS. There is, however, no possibility for custom layout of the elements on this page, which provides a multi-tabbed navigation for different parts of job application. Hence the question 1 (see below).

The application is not ready yet, but I intend to keep it hosted on my own server and provide just some ki

Need help regarding C# / AJAX Dynamic Controls creation

radiobuttons is assigned before page init..

public partial class Default : System.Web.UI.Page
//Assign values as a specific Dynamic WebControl Creation.
List<RadioButton> radioButtons = new List<RadioButton>();
List<CheckBox> checkBoxes = new List<CheckBox>();

Then I created a class that would dynamically create a table containing the available flights depending on session.. (See CallPageLoad())

The placeholder and button is inside the UpdatePanel...

on the button inside the update panel, (btnSelect)

i have this code which works...

protected void btnSelect_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

Label1.Text = Convert.ToString(radioButtons.Count);

It detects the number of radiobuttons that were dynamically created...

But when I use the following code inside the BtnSelectClick event...

//PLS HELP.......
foreach (RadioButton button in radioButtons)
if (button.Checked == true)
Label1.Text = "You select... " + button;

It does not work even though t

Problem with Dynamic Button

Hi friends,

I am trying to make a page inspired from http://login.qlikview.com/help.aspx

here I have made a dropdownlist and on clicking I am able to dynamically add the textboxes and radio buttons using placeholders. My problem is I am not able to use a dynamic number of submit buttons. In the page (link above) I need to make the submit button available for two choices and invisible for one.  But the option dynamicbutton is not available alike dynamicTextboxes etc. What could I do? Is there any other way I could figure out to implement this.

Thanking you in advance,

How to check for null/empty strings on dynamic objects?

What is the proper way to check for null or empty strings on dynamic objects? This is the only solution I've found so far:

if (admin.PasswordHash.GetType() == typeof(DBNull) || admin.PasswordHash == string.Empty)

If the field is null, the object returned is DBNull.Value, but if the field is empty string, it's return as a System.String object. This makes it impossible to do regular "admin.PasswordHash == DBNull.Value" check, as that will fail whenever the field has been set to empty string. Is my example the right (and only) way to go?
