Visual Studio 2008 Failing to Add New Controls into *.designer.cs

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I've encountered a situation with my current project where, when I add a new control, VS2008 is not adding it into the associated Designer file.  This is occurring with both a Web Page (ASPX) and a User Control (ASCX).At first I thought it was because I was going into the layout page and manually adding a control that way.  But then when I went back to dragging the controls right from the ToolBox the problem persisted.Why is this happening and how can I fix it?Robert

WPF Designer (in VS 2008 and VS 2010) crashes with Visual Studio

Good day all. I have the following question: WPF designer in both VS 2008 and VS 2010 crashes with Visual Studio when I try to edit UI form. Moreover, it crashes even when I try to save .xaml.cs file. Meanwhile, Winforms and Dataset UI editors work as usual. Are there other people met this issue? And how could I fix up this problem? Deleting the .suo file, uninstalling silverlight, repairing visual studio, and further googling did not help me. Thanks in advance.

Developing mobile web applications with Visual Studio 2008 and ASP.NET Mobile Controls

I have seen a lot of posts in this forum concerning the question how to develop mobile web applications with Visual Studio 2008. In VS 2008 the templates for Mobile Web Forms are missing and there is no more designer support for ASP.NET Mobile Controls. In the Your Websites, Our Passion! blog you can download a ZIP file with the templates compiled by Omar Kahn. And I found another interesting blog post about the Microsoft Mobile Device Platforms with a discussion when Mobile Controls should be used and when not.

Is it a bug in Visual Studio 2008 in WPF Designer when binding to enum defined inside of class?

Hello,

I have following problem:

when defining an enumeration inside of class (either static class or not) I can bind to this enum, however the WPF Designer inside Visual Studio does not display designed GUI anymore and show an error Type "MyClass+MyEnum" was not found.

However I can compile and execute the code and in the combobox all enum- values are listed.

Code behind:

    public class MyClass
    {
        public enum MyEnum { enumValue01, enumValue02, enumValue03, enumValue04, enumValue05 }
    }

My xaml-code:

<Window x:Class="SampleBindingOfNestedEnumToComboBox.Window1"
    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"

Visual Studio closes itself by opening aspx-Page designer after Windows Update

Hey Guys,

I've a problem with my Visual Studio.

On the 13th of August 2010 i installed a Windows update on my vista sp2 pc. For this date my Visual Studio 2008 sp 1 always has closed itself by opening an aspx-page in designer view. There is no error message just closing the window. I restored a backup of my windows from the time before updating it and it helped, i could open aspx pages in the design view till the update has been installed again automatically after rebooting the pc. I can't disable windows updates, cause it's my pc at work and safety is very important. I hope you could help me out of this disaster.

Thanks

Nik

crystal report -visual studio 2008 dual axis chart (bar & line)

dear all,

i use crystal report integrated with  vs.2008, and i want to make chart with dual axis (bar & line).

i have used bar chart and input the data with 2 values..

then in chart options > template, i activated the dual axis..

my question is, how i can change the 2nd value with line chart not bar chart??

i'd tried to find the right settings in "chart options" but still can't find the solution.

for information in "chart options" there are 4 sub menu : template, general,titles,grid..

i read in a tutorial there's more sub menu called "series" in crystal report (stand alone version)..

is it possible doing it in Crystal Report VS. 2008?

please,, i need your advice and solution..

Thanx before..

Regards..

Controls: Plan Your Migration to the Visual Studio 2005 Navigation Controls

Navigation is central to a well functioning Web application and it can be implemented numerous ways using today's technologies. This article highlights some of the key details of the new navigation controls that are part of the upcoming ASP.NET 2.0, and talks about how to design and implement one of these navigation controls today. This article contains a simple Web site that demonstrates the use of these navigation controls, pointing out some of the key items such as a breadcrumb control and things to watch for along the way. The article then describes how to implement a breadcrumb control today.

Visual Studio .NET: Building Windows Forms Controls and Components with Rich Design-Time Features, P

This is the second of two articles discussing the extremely rich design-time features of the .NET Framework. Part 1 discussed the basics, showing you where to start and how to extend your control implementation through attributes and interfaces, as well as their effects on the property browser, code serialization, and other controls. Part 2 continues the journey by concentrating on design-time functionality that you can implement beyond your components and controls, including TypeConverters, UITypeEditors, and Designers. It would be impossible to cover everything you can do in two short articles, which is a testament to just how all-encompassing and flexible the design-time capability of the .NET Framework is.
