Automatic vs Explicit Properties

If the reason that motivated the change from automatically implemented property to explicitly implemented property was to change the semantics of the property then you should evaluate whether the desired semantics when accessing the property from within the class are identical to or different from the desired semantics when accessing the property from outside the class.

Automatic Batch Printing in ReportViewer Remote Mode

Please help me, i have a properly working codes that is capable of the following:

1. Printing of Reports from ReportViewer without using the build-in print ICON in the actual ReportViewer. to view the working for the printing alone please click here.

2. Batch Printing by making a loop and placing a checkbox on the gridview where the needed paramerter (DataKeyNames ID) is retrieved then pass to the ReportViewer

This is my Code

foreach (GridViewRow row in GridView1.Rows)
        {
            CheckBox chk = (CheckBox)row.FindControl("CheckBox2");
            if (chk.Checked)
            {
                ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new Uri("http://TestServer/ReportServer");
                ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportPath = @"/Tavern/StudPaymentReport";
                ReportViewer1.ProcessingMode = ProcessingMode.Remote;
                ReportParameter[] rptParams = new ReportParameter[1];

                rptParams[0] = new ReportParameter("ClientID", GridView1.DataKeys[row.RowIndex].Value.ToString());

                ReportViewer1.ServerReport.SetParameters(rptParams);
                ReportViewer1.ServerReport.Refresh();

Proxy Detection: Take the Burden Off Users with Automatic Configuration in .NET

Proxy settings can be a real pain in the neck and very frustrating for users to configure properly. In this article, Durgaprasad Gorti discusses how you can use automatic proxy configuration via script and how it works in the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0.

Garbage Collection-Part 2: Automatic Memory Management in the Microsoft .NET Framework

The first part of this two-part article explained how the garbage collection algorithm works, how resources can clean up properly when the garbage collector decides to free a resource's memory, and how to force an object to clean up when it is freed. The conclusion of this series explains strong and weak object references that help to manage memory for large objects, as well as object generations and how they improve performance. In addition, the use of methods and properties for controlling garbage collection, resources for monitoring collection performance, and garbage collection for multithreaded applications are covered.

Garbage Collection: Automatic Memory Management in the Microsoft .NET Framework

Garbage collection in the Microsoft .NET common language runtime environment completely absolves the developer from tracking memory usage and knowing when to free memory. However, you'll want to understand how it works. Part 1 of this two-part article on .NET garbage collection explains how resources are allocated and managed, then gives a detailed step-by-step description of how the garbage collection algorithm works. Also discussed are the way resources can clean up properly when the garbage collector decides to free a resource's memory and how to force an object to clean up when it is freed.

Automatic Workflow start through Excel

Dear all,

I have a SPD WF and I want to start it automatically by channging a value in a dropdown inside Excel.

Instead of going to Office button --> Workflows --> Start "Budget Approval", start the workflow by setting a value inside Excel (and maybe saving the file) to "Completed".

Thanks,

Dimitris.

Triggering an event to occur within a VB.NET app if something is inserted into an SQL Server table

Let's say SQL Server is inserting arow within a table. Is there a way to let VB.NET know that an event was fired (being the inserting of the row within the table), without the need to query anything. Bascially having SQL Server tell the VB.NET app that an event was fired. It seems like it might be possible using CLR and the .NET framework integration wthin SQL Server, but I haven't found a sample program showing what I'm attempting. I understand that this topic covers SQL Server and VB.NET.  This need being for both and this forum only set for SQL Server, I thought I'd take the risk and post in this forum. Thank you in advance for any assistance.Newbie

OK button click on Windows dialogue form not triggering click event

I have created an Add-In for Outlook 2003 in Visual Studio 2005. When a new message is sent and a toggle button is selected, a form that I have created will be displayed as a dialogue box, where further information can be entered. Once this information has been entered you can click the OK button and the message is sent. If you were to click the OK button with invalid data in the form, there would be a message box with an error message. This all works perfectly on my development machine but when I have packaged the Add-In and installed it on other machines it does not work. Clicking on the OK button does nothing, there is not even an error message. All the prerequsits are successfully installed and this is the only part of the Add-In that does not work. All help greatly appreciated. Thanks Nick

Infopath Changed Event code triggering in preview but not in web filler.

Hi there, I've written some code for a changed event hookup on a field in infopath 2010. The form is for submission to a sharepoint 2010 forms library. What the code does is fill in a specific value into a field depending on the selected value from a combo-box elsewhere on the form. When i preview this in Infopath 2010 it works perfectly but when i fill out the form through the web interface it simply does nothing. I've got another piece of code which executes on load and this works perfectly in both the preview and the web filler. What it does is just set the value of a field when the form loads. Here is the code, could someone tell me what i'm doing wrong? public void InternalStartup() { EventManager.XmlEvents["/my:myFields/my:service_level"].Changed += new XmlChangedEventHandler(service_level_Changed); EventManager.FormEvents.Loading += new LoadingEventHandler(FormEvents_Loading); } public void service_level_Changed(object sender, XmlEventArgs e) { // Write your code here to change the main data source. XPathNavigator xroot = MainDataSource.CreateNavigator(); XPathNavigator serviceLevel = xroot.SelectSingleNode("/my:myFields/my:service_level",NamespaceManager); XPathNavigator xest = xroot.SelectSingleNode("/my:myFields/my:est_cost", NamespaceManager); switch (serviceLevel.Value)

Automatic Workflow execution

Hi folks, I have a task list which i have set to (require content approval for submitted items). I want to move the tasks which are APPROVED to another approved list. To accomplish it, i created a workflow in SPD. if Current Item:Approval Status equals 0;#Approved                 Email Current Item:Assigned To                 then Copy item in Current Item to Approved Tasks                 then Delete item in Current Item   I have set the workflow to automatically start when a new item is created or changed. When i approve a task; the workflow does not start. I have to manually start the workflow which then works fine as designed. Please advise what is missing for the automatic worklflow execution to work.You miss 100% of the shots you do not take!

automatic logon using claims based FBA??

I have been using a IHttpModule that performs automatic logon on a forms based authentication using a custom membership provider. This has worked well using any .net asp.net application including SharePoint 2007. The IHttpModule listens for the AuthorizeRequest event of the application and if the user isn't logged in it uses the FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(principal.Identity.Name, persistentCookie); to perform the "login". When I tried this on SharePoint 2010 using a claims based FBA, adding my custom membership provider as documented, I ran into some problems. First, the identity name that needed to be set in the SetAuthCookie was not the normal username, it seemed to be on a syntax like 0#.f|membershipProviderName|UserName If I used this instead (replacing membershipProviderName and UserName) with the actual ones, the login seemed to work (it felt like a hack tough and perhaps there is some better way to do this?) After a bit of testing the site the most seemed to work (a plain SharePoint 2010 site), but when I clicked on a list link (like calendar, events or announcements) I was given a servererror as below.   Has anyone any idéas? /Dan   Server Error in '/' Application. <nativehr>0x8107058a</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. How to prevent automatic update from sharepoint list on Infopath 2007 form

Hi there, I've got an Infopath 2007 form on MOSS 2007. I have a custom list in sharepoint and the infopath form has a data connection to that list to receive data. Is there any way to prevent automatic update on the values in the form that is received from the list. I'd like the new form to have updated info received from the list. However, the old/existing forms that were created should have the data that were available at the time when the form was created. Let me know if this is not clear and I'll try to explain more. Thanks,Pman http://www.pmansLab.com/
