The current DR stratergy we have impemented is SRDF, and we have started to face problems with this Dr type and have decides to give thought to Mirroring. below is the problems that we currently face
Any datafile corruption which happens on the active side is transferred to the mirrored drive.
More cumbersome for failover do DR.
Database must be stopped.
must manually failover the drives and bring the DR servers online.
Depending on the setup, datafiles must be copied
The whole process takes 15 to 20 minutes
Database server is inaccessible until drives are failed over.
Re-syncing large data stores after maintenance can takes a long time. (24 hours + with a 1TB database)
Let me know if its advisable to go ahead with Miroring, if there are disadvantages please let me know what that could be as the size of the DB is 2 TB.
