Hi. I have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.4053.00 (X64) and I want to configurate Replications. I have received an error which is similar to this here: http://dbfriend.blogspot.com/2010/01/error-occurred-during-decryption-when.html and I want to solve this problem with command ALTER SERVICE MASTER KEY REGENERATE FORCE. I would like to ask you what I can lose with FORCE option? I have read it should be linked server login passwords and credential secrets. Will this command ALTER SERVICE MASTER KEY REGENERATE FORCE affect the connections from linked servers which point to this machine from another SQL Servers? If I run exec sp_linkedservers, I receive 1 row where SRV_NAME is the same as @@servername. There are no other linked servers. There is a structure of data I have found. Please tell me if there is something which could be lost after the command ALTER SERVICE MASTER KEY REGENERATE FORCE. I have a few user databases but no data are returned when I run this command on them: EXEC sp_MSForEachDB ' Use ?;     select * from sys.master_key_passwords ;     select * from sys.asymmetric_keys ;     select * from sys.crypt_properties ;     select * from sys.certificates ;     select * from sys.key_encryptions ;     select * from sys.credentials ;     select * from sys.symmetr

Unable to Backup Service Master Key on SQL 2008 Express

Hi I am attempting to do a backup of the Server Master Key but it fails. The error message I am receiving is as follows: Msg 15240, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot write into file 'C:\Users\harvey norman\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio Express\SQLEXPR2008ADV_ServerMasterKey'. Verify that you have write permissions, that the file path is valid, and that the file does not already exist. The PC I am running SQL 2008 Express (64 bit) is running on Vista Ultimate (64-bit) SP2. The SQL I wrote is as follows: BACKUP SERVICE MASTER KEY TO FILE = 'C:\Users\harvey norman\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio Express\SQLEXPR2008ADV_ServerMasterKey' ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = '??' GO Note that the ?? represents the password but is not actually the password for obvious reasons. I am logged in to the PC as a user with Admin permissions.  I had a look at the destination folder, and it shows I have full control. So, I am mystified. If somebody could advise me I would really appreciate it. Many thanks in advance. Kind regards Ross Ross

Master Page, web service and Ajax autocomplete extender problem.

I will appreciate very much any help about this issue.  I have been dealing with it for the last week and I couldn't detail and complete examples about this issue. The problem: I have a text box and ajax autocomplete control extender in my Master Page that it is not working at all.  When I type some characters on the text box it doesn't trigger the autocomplete. I have a web service that contains the function code. I est my code on a single Web Page (No Master Page) and it works perfectly.  Also, it works fine if I include the text box and the extender on the Content Page instead of on the Master Page.  It is important to keep the text box in the Master Page for me. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and ASP 3.5.   tHANK YOU VERY MUCH. here is my code:   MASTER PAGE. <%@ Master Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MasterPage.master.vb" Inherits="MasterPage" %> <%@ Register assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" tagprefix="ajax" %> <%@ Import Namespace = "System.Data" %> <%@ Import Namespace = "System.Data.SQLClient" %> <%@ Import Namespace = "System.Web.Script.Services" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Web" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Web.Services&

Web Service Master Detailsview - SelectedIndexChanging not working

I have a web service that binds data to a gridview.  I am trying to use a detailsview to select a row and make some changes.  My issue is, I am not using the datakeynames, which is not being used to bind data to the gridview.  That is being done through a datatable and dataview.  I tried to bind my detailsview to a table and defaultview, which works.  But the problem is, it is selecting a default row.  I am unable to select any other row besides the first row.  I can't bind the detailsview datasource property to the objectdatasource or sqldatasource objects, which seems to be all I can find online.  I need to be able to bind to a datasource(i.e. datatable, defaultview), which I am able to bind to it, but the detailsview isn't displaying any other record besides first row/record from my gridview.  I am unable to use the datakeynames, which would not be an issue if I were using sql or any other database, but I am unable to retrieve it, set it or use it, using a web service.  Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is a sample of my code below for the GridView SelectedIndexChanging event:

protected void grdOpenTickets_SelectedIndexChanging(object sender, GridViewSelectEventArgs e)

WebService.GetListOutput[] recordList;

string strQuery = "'Create Date' > \"9/1

WCF interoperability with Java SOAP service - sign elements order, force wsu id value

I need to consume a SOAP web service created in Java from a WCF client. By intensively searching this on the web in general and on this forum in particular, I've seen that quite a lot of people have problems in this area, however I never found the answer to the questions I will post on this thread.

The service I have to consume has the following constraints:

  • needs transport level security by communicating over HTTPS
  • needs signatures on the body (soap:body element) and a custom header of each request. The signature is done using a client certificate and complies with http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-soap-message-security-1.0.pdf. The signature is required only on requests. Service responses are not signed.

After an intensive amount of work I managed  to make my request messages look like (intercepted with fiddler):

<s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:u<

File system permission error during BACKUP service master key

I'm having a strange issue with file system permissions.

A backup database to file location e:\sqlbackup works fine.
A BACKUP SERVICE MASTER KEY or BACKUP MASTER KEY fails with the error ´MSG 15240, Level 16, State 1 Cannot Write into file ´e:\sqlbackup\file.bak' Verify that you have write permissions, etc...'

What am I missing?

Data Cleansing in SQL Server 2008 R2 Master Data Service

Does Master Data Service has some in built mechanism to deal with cleansing of data? Or, is there some cleansing service available that works with SQL Server 2008 R2 Master Data Services?

Windows Service Applications Tutorials

You can easily create services by creating an application that is installed as a service. For example, suppose you want to monitor performance counter data and react to threshold values. You could write a Windows Service application that listens to the performance counter data, deploy the application, and begin collecting and analyzing data.

Master-Detail with the GridView, DetailsView and jQuery's ThickBox

One more article about grids from Matt Berseth. This time he shows how to create master-detail with the gridview, detailsview and jQuery's ThickBox. He writes:
So I thought I would check some of this out and along the way rebuild my Master-Detail with the GridView, DetailView and ModalPopup Controls and replace the ModalPopup with jQuery's ThickBox. I found it pretty interesting - read on to see how it went

GridView inline Master/Detail record display

This code drop is part of a smash and grab series. If you're in a rush, you can just grab this code and insert it into your application, no understanding is required. When you have some time (ya, right) you may want to review the source code.

WCF Tip: Using Properties in Service Contracts

you'll notice all of the Service Contracts are implemented with interfaces containing only methods. For the longest time I thought that's all that was supported, until I thought about it a little more. In C# land, properties are simply wrappers around a get method and set method, so why wouldn't we be able to use properties in a service contract? Well the answer is we can.

Realizing a Service-Oriented Architecture with .NET

This article is meant to be a practical discussion guide to building a .NET application in a service-oriented architecture. We will consider real-world goals, real-world obstacles, and experience-based solutions. I quickly concede the approaches discussed here are not exhaustive or infallible. This paper is focused on application development, not application integration. We will specifically consider architectural issues and component design issues.

The Potential of Web Services

GridView control to show master-child or master-slave data, written in c#, asp.net

I previously made a master slave datagrid using Visual Studio 2003 .Net (original article) that would allow users to show data to clients using collapse and expand features. These features however did not carry over to gridview for many users. This tutorial will explaing how to create a collapsable/expandable gridview in frameworks 2.0 and higher
