Hello there, I created a trigger and I am trying to only do stuff if my inserted.column_name1 is different from my deleted.column_name1. Here is my code : alter trigger EncryptionKeyUpdate on [BackupJobDefinition] after update AS if deleted.DataEncryptionKeyID != inserted.DataEncryptionKeyID begin     INSERT BackupJobDefinitionLifeTime         select             'Old',             GETDATE(),             system_user,             JobDefinitionID,             DataEncryptionKeyID,             1        from deleted     INSERT BackupJobDefinitionLifeTime         select             'New',             GETDATE(),             system_user,             JobDefinitionID,             DataEncryptionKeyID,             1

The multi-part identifier "rg.label" could not be bound.

Cannot for the life of me figure this out. I'm sure it's something to do with the union. Tried various different things, I want the original query + the union the pick up the "rate group". Any help would be appreciated.

SELECT 0 as Junk, Transactions.Trans_ID, Transactions.Rez_ID, Transactions.Client_ID, Transactions.Origin_ID, Transactions.Made_Date,
Transactions.Product_ID, Transactions.Trans_Desc, Transactions.Trans_Total, 0 as Trans_total2, Client_desc.Client_id,
Rez_Desc.Client_Name, Rez_Desc.Open_Date, Rez_Desc.Close_Date, transactions.ref_number, rez_desc.agent_conf_number,
rez_desc.rez_number,unit_desc.label as room, rate_groups.label as rg
FROM (Client_Desc INNER JOIN Transactions ON Client_Desc.Client_ID = Transactions.Client_ID)
LEFT JOIN Rez_Desc ON Rez_Desc.Rez_ID = Transactions.Origin_ID

IF OBJECT_ID ('dbo.investment_update','TR') IS NOT NULL
   DROP TRIGGER investment_update;

CREATE TRIGGER dbo.investment_update
ON investment
DECLARE @N float,@T_C float,@C_T float,@C_R float,@D float,@C float;

SELECT @N=num,@T_C=total,@C_T=Current_total,@C_R=Current_rate FROM inserted

SET @D=@C_T-@T_C

if @D>0
    SET @C = (@D*30)/100
    SET @C = 0

UPDATE investment SET Difference=@D,Commission=@C where investment.investment_id = inserted.investment_id

Basically, I have 2 columns..current_cost which gives the today's cost of the share and total_cost as the cost at time when the investment was made..the total_cost will ramain the same but current_cost will change daily according to today;s share market..so using the trigger given above I am trying to calculate the commission earned if the customer makes some profit by selling the shares today..
but it is not updating the table properly..any suggestions abt thhis trigger?

Data-Bound Design: Create a Silverlight 4 Web Part for SharePoint 2010

When building custom SharePoint 2010 solutions, it makes a lot of sense to take advantage of Silverlight 4 on the front end. We'll walk you through the process of building a Silverlight Web Part with Visual Studio and Expression Blend.Paul StubbsMSDN Magazine September 2010

Multi row trigger

I need code for this:

I update table and updated values i need to insert into "log" table!

Now, when I am running multi row update my trigger doesn't   work!

This is my code:

Create TRIGGER logUpdate
 ON doc
 after UPDATE

declare @myids_doc int
FROM deleted
OPEN myids
INTO @myids_doc

insert into doc_log (docLog_name,docLog_time,docLog_date)
select(doc_name,doc_time,doc_date) from deleted where deleted.IDN=@myids_doc
FETCH NEXT FROM myids INTO @myids_doc

CLOSE myids

When i run multi row update for doc table i am getting this error:

"Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression."

What i am doing wrong? Thanks!

Quick Launch navigation and Table Of Contents Web Part multi language issues

I noticed that my multi language site have some issues in translations. The translations in breadcrumb, list and libraries are all ok, except the list names in the Quick Launch navigation and the Table Of Contents Web Part, it does not translate the names of lists and libraries......

Can anybody give me some advise? Or is this a bug?

Custom Multi Filter Web Part for Report Viewer

I want to create a custom web part that has more than 1 filter web part and that can be connected to Report Viewer Web Part (Integrated Mode) at runt time/design time.

I searched a lot but could not find a way to have single web part that is a provider to more than 1 filters.
Say for example -
  1. My Report accept 2 parameter Department and Region.
  2. I want to connect both parameter with single web part having two drop down (one for Department and one for Region)
  3. Values from both the drop down should be passed to Department and Region
  4. Report should be rendered in Report Viewer Web Part

Solution Tried so far
  1. Create a web part that adds two custom drop down
  2. Custom Drop down class that Implements from ITransformableFilterValues
  3. Have 2 Methods on the web pat each having ConnectionProvider Attribute and return instance of drop down control
  1. Even though 2 connection option is shown on my custom filter web part only one can be added
  2. For example - If I connect Filter1(custom web part) to Department then i am unable to connect to Report Viewer web part again.
My web part have methods like this

WPF: If Heineken did MVVM Frameworks Part 4

MVVM is to have an instance of a particular Model (say currentPerson) inside my ViewModel (say PeopleViewModel) which is exposed to the View (say PeopleView). The View binds and edits the Model directly.

This definitely flies in the face of what most people consider to be the holy grail of MVVM pattern, but it's a fairly new pattern, so people are still finding their way with it every day, and this works for me very well. The reason I do what I do, is for the following reasons:

1.I have always had the luxury of being able to write my own UI specific Model classes. I would even do this if I was using some other Model classes first, such as LINQ to SQL or LINQ to Entity Framework. As these classes don't have everything a proper WPF Model class needs in my humble opinion. Though, they are pretty good, as they are Partial classes and use INotifyPropertyChanged/DataContract etc etc
2.I am a pragmatist and I do not like writing code for the sake of writing code. I have seen some MVVM apps where the author has had a Model with 50 properties on it, that are simply repeated in the ViewModel abstraction, where the ViewModel added nothing. On that day I decided I would never do that unless I have to.
3.I honestly see no harm in writing directly to the Model from the View, JUST SO LONG AS if the Model is InValid its data NEVER makes its way to the database. I honestly see no pro

Building Layered Web Applications with Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 - Part 1

"Building Layered Web Applications" that shows you how to build N-Layer applications with Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0. These articles teach you how to design, build and use custom business objects in your web application. The target audience for this series are developers that are ready to make the switch from using SqlDataSource controls to ObjectDataSource controls with custom business objects. Experience with ASP.NET 2 and C# is necessary while some knowledge about object oriented design certainly helps. The design I am going to show you in these articles is a simplified version of a design you would use in a real world application. It doesn't feature all the necessary functionality your application needs, but instead focuses on the underlying concepts.

Hello World to C# Threading Part 1

In this post we will see how we can implement simple threading. Why do we need threading? When you want you application to do more then one thing at same time, then you need to implement threading. One usual and common scenario would be when your application needs to get data from some other resource like web services and you don't want you application GUI to be freeze during this time. In that sort of case you will run the code to access web services in separate thread so your application GUI won't freeze. The System.Threading namespace .NET provide interfaces to implement multi threading.

Multi-threading in .NET: Introduction and suggestions

This article uses the C# type shorthands throughout - int for Int32 etc. I hope this makes it easier for C# developers to read, and won't impede any other developers too much. It also only talks about the C# ways of declaring variables to be volatile and locking monitors. Developers using other languages can find the equivalents in their own preferred environment, I'm sure.

Multithreading in .NET Applications, Part 3

Multithreading is a powerful design tool for creating high-performance applications, especially those that require user interaction. Microsoft .NET has broken down the barriers that once existed in creating multithreaded applications. The last two installments of the .NET Nuts & Bolts column were

What's new in ASP.NET 4.0 - Part II - Routing in Webforms

This post covers one such feature which is Routing in Webforms. Although Routing was available even in .NET 3.5 SP1, (check this excellent post by Phil Haack on implementing Routing in ASP.NET 3.5 with .NET 3.5 SP1), it was kind of less known. Also the plumbing work was too much for getting it implemented.
