Generate Insert Scripts - Windows Tool

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Some time back, i remember that there is a windows tool that generates the insert scripts for any given table and i forgot the link from which i've downloaded the tool. By any chance does any have the information on how to generate the INSERT Scripts for a table which has some data. My interest is to port the data between the databases, but the databases are in geographically in two diff locations as well as security restrictions are in place. All i have is email access for both the locations. Thus, if i can generate the INSERT Scripts for the tables, i can send the text file. Please throw your ideas on, transferring the table(s) data between databases.Every thing is perfect as long as you share

Windows Script Host: New Code-Signing Features Protect Against Malicious Scripts

Downloading scripts from the Web or e-mail leaves users vulnerable to security risks because scripts can't be signed. But now developers can use Windows Script Host (WSH) to hash scripts so users can verify their source and safety. With WSH, scripts can be signed or verified using all the same tools ordinarily used to sign EXE, CAB, DLL, and OCX files. This article discusses public-key cryptosystems, the process of signing and verifying scripts in WSH, and several warnings about attacks that could potentially be made against cryptographically secured scripts and ways in which to avoid them.

The VTrace Tool: Building a System Tracer for Windows NT and Windows 2000

This article describes the techniques used to construct VTrace, a system tracer for Windows NT and Windows 2000. VTrace collects data about processes, threads, messages, disk operations, network operations, and devices. The technique uses a DLL loaded into the address space of every process to intercept Win32 system calls; establishes hook functions for Windows NT kernel system calls; modifies the context switch code in memory to log context switches; and uses device filters to log accesses to devices.

Scripting Windows: Windows Management Instrumentation Provides a Powerful Tool for Managing Windows

The new Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) technology for Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 98 provides powerful scripting technology that can be used to administrate Windows-based systems. With WMI, you can create scripts to simplify management of devices, user accounts, services, networking, and other aspects of your system. This piece will introduce you to WMI and the WMI Scripting Object Model, taking a look at the available objects, methods, and properties. Along the way, you'll see how these elements can be used to create system management scripts.

A little background because I feel I have an out of the ordinary architecture in place and don't know if this is contributing to the problem.

We have an existing ASP.net application that is undergoing expansion.  The new functionality is all written in Silverlight 4.  As part of that expansion I gutted all the old Linq to SQL and put Entity Framework 4 into place.  To do this I created a standard .net Class Library and added my edmx files there.  Naturally, the business entities created by this cannot be used in Silverlight.  So I created a Silverlight Class Library and added all the business entities to that Silverlight Class Library as linked files.  I changed the name space to be the same.

So I have the following assembly / namespaces

Company.Project.Dal.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (.net 4 class library)

Company.Project.Entities.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (SL4 class library)

With this architecture I was able to share my business entities with my SL enabled web services, my asp.net projects, my silverlight projects.  Really it's a beautiful thing.

Once this was done I added "message" classes to Company.Project.Dal and again shared them with the other entites using linked files.  These messages are things like MyObjectRequest; they are class

SQL server client tool installation on windows XP?

Hi My desktop is Windows XP sp3 and have office 2010, sql express 2005 management studio and Visual studeio 2008 sp1 installed.  We have a SQL R2 server installed last week.  I was able to use sql 2005 management studio to connect to the new sql 2008 R2.  Question is when i try to install 2008 R2's client tool using the 2008R2 iso image.  It look for windows installer 4.5 as prerequisite.  It fail in installing windows installer 4.5 with msg saying I am not the administrator and it require administrator right.  But I am logging in as administrator on local pc.  I also confirmed with our IT/Server guys and they confirmed that I have the admin right.  Then, I tried the following steps: a) reboot, log in as administrator locally b) checked eventviewer, no error/warning msg that stand out to me c) turn off symantec antivirus d) download windows installer 4.5 (WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe   - install it locally   - run as administrator to install All the above steps seems not working, I am kind of out of idea.  Could some on please kindly help out.  All I need is the 2008 management studio and profiler install on my PC.  thank you, Ted.

Database deployment with Backup and Restore vs. Generate and Publish Scripts Wiz.

Could you please explain when is it better to deploy (publish) a database with Backup and Restore and when with the Generate and Publish Scripts Wizard?

Generating proxy with netcfsvcutil - An error occured in the tool -> How to generate proxy?

I'm currently trying to generate a SmartDevice proxy from a WCF service and that fails. Initially it complained that the NETCF doesn't support wsHtpp, so I changed it into a basicHttp binding and rolled https into it. After changing a lot of things I managed to get my server to properly start, but had the testclient complain that it was unable to generate a proxy because the connection was forcefully closed.

So I undid ALL the HTTPS changed and use plain http. It's not secure, but at least it works for my development purposes. When I start the test client, it generates a proxy and shows up fine. However, when I run my netcfsvcutil from the commandline, it gives me "An error has occured in the tool." follow by a "An error has occured in the application".

This is how I call the tool:

netcfsvcutil.exe http://localhost:8080/WhereIsPatrickSvc/mex

And this is my entire config file for the service;

Automate Managment Studio 'Tasks > Generate Scripts' option

Hi all,

Is there a way(command line / SSIS / anything to use with the SQL Server agent or another scheduler) to generate scripts like the  'Tasks > Generate Scripts' option in MSMS 2008?
The Generate Scripts Wizard does exactly what I want, but I do not see an option to automate this task.
I just want to dump table etc create scripts to the file-system.

Am I overlooking something?

Cannot generate table scripts with DateTime2 datatype in SQL Server 2008

When trying to generate a "CREATE TO" script from a SQL Server 2008 table containing either DATE or DateTime2 data types,  I get the following error:

Script failed for Table 'dbo.tMyTable'.  (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
Column SnapshotDate in object tMyTable contains type DateTime2, which is not supported in the target server version, SQL Server 2005. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)

However, I've checked all my databases (including master, tempdb, etc.) and ALL are cmptlevel=100.
