SharePoint 2010 - How to BULK MOVE document libraries?

In this article I would like to inform you on a probably known solution & probably unknown tip.

Why you require Bulk Move?

In the life time of a SharePoint deployment we might require to move a set of document libraries from one location to another.  (Document library or List)

Solution 1

One solution is to choose Library Settings > Save as Template option.

Please note that the above link is available based on Publishing feature is enabled/disabled.

In the appearing dialog choose the Include Content option.

Later in the destination library you can Create new library from this template.

Problem: The above solution is time consuming if there are multiple libraries. (BULK MOVE)

Solution 2

We can use the Open with Windows Explorer feature to perform bulk moving.

Please note that this button is enabled only with Internet Explorer browser.
