Microsoft hidden files problem

Posted By:Maverick       Posted Date: March 16, 2011    Points: 25    Category: General    URL: http://www.dotnetspark.com

To enable or disable hidden option in winXP

some virus attacks the folder options and disturb the setting of hidden files and folders options. You can use any of the tool such as smart virus removal tool to remove hidden virus. sometimes it may happen that if u select "show hidden files and folders" option and apply it, it will reset again to "do not show hidden files and folders" and also some it happens that both the options will be selected so to resolve this issue, go to any of the system where hidden files options work properly, go to run and write

cmd /c Reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden" /s >DH.txt && DH.txt

and press enter it will open up the notepad, and compare that file dh.txt with the system affected by virus and modify the registry entries accordingly.

DH.txt would be as follow:

    Text    REG_SZ    @shell32.dll,-30499
    Type    REG_SZ    group
    Bitmap    REG_EXPAND_SZ    %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll,4
    HelpID    REG_SZ    shell.hlp#51131

    RegPath    REG_SZ    Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
    Text    REG_SZ    @shell32.dll,-30501
    Type    REG_SZ    radio
    CheckedValue    REG_DWORD    0x2
    ValueName    REG_SZ    Hidden
    DefaultValue    REG_DWORD    0x2
    HKeyRoot    REG_DWORD    0x80000001
    HelpID    REG_SZ    shell.hlp#51104

    RegPath    REG_SZ    Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
    Text    REG_SZ    @shell32.dll,-30500
    Type    REG_SZ    radio
