Add item to IEnumerable by convertint to list

       static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            IList newList = GetItems().ToList();
            newList.Add("new value");

            foreach (string s in newList)
                Console.WriteLine(s);

            Console.ReadKey();
        }

        private static IEnumerable GetItems()
        {
            IList list = new List();
            list.Add("a");
            list.Add("b");
            list.Add("c");

            return list.Where(s => s != "a");
        }
