Silverlight And XAML

When Timothy Berners-Lee invented the internet, the term world wide web (WWW) was coined to describe the web of network-accessible information based on the universe of the interconnected computers and servers.AS past of this system, HyperText Markup Language HTML was invented to create graphical web pages and the Hypertext Transfer Protocol HTTP to request and transmit the web pages between the web servers and the web browsers.

Initially, the web was a repository of Hyperlinked information, with increase in number of users accessing the internet and various technological changes, the web has evolved greatly. From being a repository of information and mode of the communication, it is now increasingly used as a medium of entertainment, business and socializing.

As a result, users expect website to be rich in look and feel, quick in response, and much more intuitive. These changes in the usage of the web and requirements of the users have personalized communities. This concept is used for developing RIAs.

RIAs provide the look and feel of the desktop application. Unlike tradition Web applications that allow users to only read information,RIAs allow users to contribute information, suck as knowledge articles pictures music videos and much more. In addition the web has become as integral part of business organizations to interact with customers, peers and suppliers and manage their business more effectively and efficiently.

RIAs (Rick User Interface):

A rick user interface ensures that the information on the web pages is presented with rick attractive and intuitive look and feel This can eb done by organizing the graphics slide shows media players and editable components on the web page. A rick user interface binds the user to the website for longer periods.

Highly interactive Websites.

WPF:

is the next generation presentation framework that helps in developing applications with rick user interface It combines application UIs, 2D graphics, 3D graphics documents and multimedia into one single framework.

WPF is built on the .NET framework and provides a managed environment for developing rick interactive applications.

with WPF you can create a wide range of of both desktop and web application. The web application wpf are reffered to as XAML. Browser Application (XBAP) and require .net framwork 3.0 or higher version on the client machine to be run.

The XAML is based on the XML and is a declarative language. In a declarative programming language. you can describe the behavior and integration of components without the use of procedural progarmming.

XML files have the .xaml extesion. A XAML file must have only one root element.

which can be a window, page or application.

The following example shows the root element of aXAML file for a WPF windows with the root element /

xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006.xaml/presentation"

xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"

.

In the preceding code snippet the root element contains the attributes xmlns and xmlns:x These attribites indicate to a XMLs indicate to a XAML processor and the element definitions for the elements that the markup will refer to.
