ASP.NET - Error throwing or logging

Posted By: Sruthi Keerthi     Posted Date: September 14, 2009    Points:2   Category :ASP.Net
.
Dear all,
We are building an ASP.NET application with C#.net as language.

Here we have 3 layers (UI, Business and Database) and need a clarification on error handling/logging. We have an error logging framework to log errors.

My query is that do we need log errors in each layer or only in the main calling layer (UI layer) by throwing the errors to UI layer from business and database layers? Which is the best practice?

If would be great if you could also provide a reference document or web references (If needed).

Thanks and Regards .
Sruthi Keerthi.

I would suggest to use Log4Net for logging error in your asp.net application its flexible, easy to use and its free.

If you are talking the best practices to log error or exception you in read this article
