How to get the Event in a Trigger

I have a trigger for INSERt and UPDATE, It would fire for both Insert and Update statement
How to get the Event type like if the INSERT event is fired then it should display a message like 'insert is fired'

Hi,

Whats exactly your requirement..Because Trigger is a type of event which fires before Update, Insert..why do you need event before trigger? Whats the use?
