Posted By: Aruna     Posted Date: March 01, 2011    Points:2   Category :SharePoint
HI All,

I need an information about MOSS Certification. I have been working in Sharepoint for the past 1 year. I have not done any certifications till either in .net or in Sharepoint.

But now i am in a situation to do a certification as its needed by my organization.

can any one tell me

1. is it necessary to have .net certification before MOSS?

2. what are the MOSS Certifications available for a fresher?

Hi Aruna,

Since Sharepoint is based on asp.net 2.0, you should first do web development related certification and then go for Sharepoint certifications.

Web development certification and good understanding of web development will surely help you understand Sharepoint in much better way.

There are two major categories in Sharepoint certifications.

1. Development

2. Configuration

Here you can choose which certification you want based on you current expertise. It is advisable to do both the certifications.

You will find more info here http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-sharepoint-server.aspx#tab2

Let me know if you need any help.
