GridView ViewState compression

Posted By: Rajesh     Posted Date: December 21, 2010    Points:2   Category :ASP.Net
How can we compress the viewstate, so that a search GridView will be loading in a fast manner even if there are 500 records?. I know that using paging/caching we can improve the page loading performance. But in my case, I have "Show All" link in the footer of the GridView. Right now "Show All" loading 350 records in 6-7 seconds(but when I SQL profile, the query took only 200 ms to complete), and the reason I found is that the view state of the GridView. If I disable the viewstate of GridView the page will load within 2 seconds of time but that affect some other parts of web page.

So I am in a need of loading the GridData (at least 500 records) within 1-2 seconds of time, thru some compression mechanism.

Any idea?
