Hi..

Assembly is a collection of classes.Assemblies ends with an extension of .dll.
AjaxTollKit.dll means that is a collection of classes where some functions are defined.

Assembly:

Assembly is a single deployment unit or fundamental unit of .net framework and also called a single or multiple files like exe, dll, html,css extra..
Three Type of Assembly in .Net
1) Private Assembly - It can be accessed from single application.
2) Public Assembly - It can be accessed from more than one application.
3) Satellite assembly - To suport the multiple language.
