Data reader is a read only data. We can retrieve the data only from the database. We cann't edit, update.
But dataset can retrieve and change data from database.

Dataset is a disconnected mode where datareader is a connected mode.

Dataset read data from a single table where dataset can be used in multiple tables.

Datareader is faster than dataset.

Ramesh
