Posted By: Hasanabbas Momin     Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points:2   Category :Sql Server
Dear All,

I want to set mixed mode authentication of sqlserver without installing SQL server management studio 2005. I know by registry i can change it but its not possible on all platform. It will be helpful to me if its by command prompt.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Momin

You can use undocumented procedure xp_regwrite/xp_instance_regwrite, to change the authentication mode form query.

exec master..xp_instance_regwrite N'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE',
N'SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer',
'LoginMode', N'REG_DWORD', 2

0 or 2 => Mixed Mode
1 => integrated
