delegates are a .NET object which points to a method that matches its specific signature.

Everything which fires to execute a particular method is achieved using delegates.

Consider an example,

Am having a button and for that button click event am trying show a popup window. cool there should be some person who should take care of achieving this. He is no one but our delegate.

this guy will hold the function and bind the same with that particular control.

To be more realtime the one who acts for another is called as a delegate...
